Weekend Watch: Nokia 808 PureView hands on recorded by Nokia 808 PureView

| June 16, 2012 | 28 Replies

Let’s start with a bit of 808 on 808 action, here Vaibhav Sharma records a hands on video with none other than the Nokia 808 PureView of the Nokia 808 PureView.

I wish I had the 808 to do my first unboxing of the 808. That continuous AF is just essential for gadget videos. No messing about trying to look at a microscopic viewfinder and twiddling about with the focus ring.

White is looking pretty classy. White or red are my two top picks for the 808. I usually opt for black but for the first time but not with the 808 design.

Such a must have device! I wish I could get one now.

Nokia has always been amazing with their hardware quality , what they need to do is to raise their bar with software , this device has an amazing camera , the worlds best camera , but not the best software , forget abt smoothness and UI and everything , Nokia needs good developers to create apps like IOS and Android are doing , Belle is good but not just good enough .. it has its limitations…, m not a fan boy , I own a N8 myself , but about to replace just because of the tired software and limited 3rd party apps

Nokia should thank Indians, they’re the only ones still keeping Symbian afloat.

    • Ammad says:

Would it be steriotypical of me to assume that Indians tend to be More Tech Savy?

Because i think Sub-Continental/Asian people like their tech and are clued up on their shit..

Whereas in USA/West…well, people are brainwashed by marketing 24/7 to love iphones and Droids.. not that marketing isn’t a factor in Asia/India, but people actually BOTHER to research a phone before getting one. Maybe due to lack of expendable money so they can make a long term invest, ment into a produc that covers everything, even though it may not be the prettiest lookin OS at the time (ref to S^3/Anna), however Belle is gorgeous.

      Just saying..

      • stylinred says:

        yes it would

but i agree americans seem to fall for marketing far more than others maybe its just because the marketing campaigns are for more advanced ;)

        • dss says:

The US public is under constant marketing bombardment.. and some of the campaigns are quite cunning. That is the main reason why those “eco” systems are pissing me off.. its all about product/marketing placement and consumer tracking. Especially the android platform.. they should just call it a marketing platform and be done with it.

Price is one of the biggest factor of Indian mobile market. They chose mobile based on budget. That’s why still Nokia is living in India. Richer people always getting iPhones. Now they are focussed on Samsung Galaxy Flagships too. Quite good though.By myself am adored by Nokia phones though am having an iPhone and SGS3… And I will buy Nokia phone until its got closed or whatsoever happened to Nokia…

This 808 is every bit is good as i expected..very pleased with it..Battery life very good also. To think, i near bought a HTCx.. Thankfully i was able to import 808 from SGBest in Singapore. Its their Top selling phone.

    • dss says:

They have them in stock ? I called them 2 days ago and they said they were out..

    • HeritierFallyFerres says:

Can you please let me know the situation with the warranty of your phone you bought from Singapore?. I am told Nokia does not do international warranties and if anything goes wrong with the phone they will ask you to send it to the Nokia care point in the country you bought it from?. Is that true or not?.

I am clued up enough to deal with any software issues that may arise but i am afraid of encountering hardware related problems if I import the phone from Singapore and being asked to send it there in case anything goes wrong

      I live in UK

i also consider black first but with the red 808 ooohhh i really like it but if ever i will have that 808 i think i still go for the black ones so i wont get thieves attention… I find the red 808 very loud kinda unique attention getter… Haha… Very pleasing to look at…

  10. Anonymous says:

yap black is very classy and you can bring it anywhere in any event coz black fits everything… But every time i look at the red 808 ooohhhh… Haha… So good to look at…

Does the sound recorder uses Nokia Rich Recording too? Or is it only limited to Video recording only? How about the sound quality of calling?

  12. masood.alkhter says:

  13. nokia destroys itself says:

the 808 design is great, i used to think its desogn is ugly:(

sgbest is not the lowset in singapore, you can get it for singapore dollat 710

    • Paul Grenfell says:

I got mine for $630AU , delivered.. which is cheap in Australia.

    • anonymous says:

haha… I remember that, actually its not only you but almost everyone hated it when they saw the sketch image but i didnt judge it right away coz i remember when the n8 rumored to have a hump in the back almost everyone also hated it but when it was released more and more starting to like it until it becames pride of imaging in smartphones… I can say then that nokia knows about fashion…

      • Lord US says:

If it looks ugly the you can’t change that with the specs.

Maybe the tech guys will change their mind but not the general public.

  14. D Harries says:

Could this be one of the last great phones? If only a deluge of apps came this way….

I’m not so app centric myself, but I can imagine buying this phone, and then not bothering with anything new for a very long time.

Sadly, the market place isn’t always about being the best…..
