Video: Nokia Transport with detailed line view and multiple tiles

| July 13, 2012 | 10 Replies

Nokia’s uploaded a video showing Nokia Transport, an app that helps with public transport, on the Nokia Lumia 900. Nokia transit factors in walking times to stations as well as giving directions to those stations, and apparently some more as it guides to your final destination.

They’ve got someone called Josh who lives in New York to demo it. I don’t think he’s Nokia staff.

Nnokia Transport is like having thousands of schedules and timetables in your pocket: see upcoming departure times, find the closest stations, and get directions from your stop to the door of your destination. Nokia Transport is an intuitive, flexible adventure companion with extended global coverage. Read more at http://conversations.nokia.com/?p=86986

As a finn i must say transport is good for its purpose.
But: When i moved about 30 min (with car) outside of Helsinki city it does not help me anymore :(

It gives me directions like walk 10-15km to nearest helsinki local bus station. I hope they will expand the program more than just cities.

Nokia Transport is unfortunately a useless app for most people. It often only works in bigger cities (and even not many of them). There are much better apps out there, at least for Nokia N9.

It is a good app, but here in the small town I live in Sweden it’s useless.

Managed to get it on my Malaysian Lumia 800. Too bad Kuala Lumpur (not living there, by the way) isn’t supported yet, though I won’t be holding my breath due to my first hand experience of how bad the public transportation there is. Buses and trains don’t come on time, etc. you know the drill. I’d bet that anyone compiling data of the public transportation there for NT will go nuts within a few days. :p
