Vanjoki not involved in Jolla Mobile
Since Jolla Mobile were not yet ready to detail their partners/investors, some had been speculating that perhaps Ex Nokia Hero (well to many Nokia fans), Anssi Vanjoki might be an angel investor that would provide some funds for this new startup.
According to the story below, whilst Anssi is happy with what Jolla Mobile is trying (he did have a penchant for MeeGo and N9) he says he’s not involved.

LG was interested in MeeGo at one point and actually joined them before Tizen.
ya, maybe they are again intrested because it was not being developed by nokia and was taken by jm

i wonder how much money they hope to scam out of investors.
I don’t smell anything bad.
And their financing, as published, is 10 million for the first phone launch. Apparently all already collected from non-institutional private investors – if what little I’ve gathered is correct.

No I’m not anyone’s stooge. I’m a private investor, with opinions just like everyone else on the net. That’s it.
no you are not…. cynical would be, “Nokia incompetent management is several times more expensive to maintain than an entire company to built up from the ground that creates jobs, business, and lets people carry on their dreams, and will probably release a device still this year”

10mio split to 50 and part of it probably already used. If I were them, Id fly to Jamaica every year and took a job from Intel.
They’ve stated that they have clear steps and now they have financed the first: have the first product ready. If I gather right, the following step was marketing ans they need more money for it.
And manufacturing. Afaik they are only able to finance the design if the first device and os with the ten mill
Awww. Would have been nice to see Vanjoki’s fight-back really start now.
I’m actually sad, Vanjoki was really interested in saving Nokia.
He saw Symbian was dying and had categorically stated that there wouldn’t be any more N Series in Symbian ^3. He always pointed to Meego for the future. And Honestly Meego or Meamo would have been a wonderful future.
Actually, that is not quite accurate. Vanjoki himself took those words back by saying Symbian^4 would come to Nseries. I believe the reference was to 808.
Hmmm but Symbian^4 was not Symbian^3. It was supposed to be a compelete rebuilt.
If the rebuild ended out much better what wrong with it? The Nokia Air Concept could have been what Symbian^4 was supposed to turn out to look like. An N-series with that UI would have been great.
Sure, but just a point that Vanjoki wasn’t abandoning Symbian for MeeGo.
Hmm never said he was abandoning it.
He was going to gradually remove Symbian from a high end position. And Place Meego as the High End Smartphone OS.

Sony & LG both suffering from android, they both making awesome stuff with much less issues than SAM… but BAD LUCK so they might be the once
also they both have no own OS
I still feel Intel must have something to do with it.
They really had hope in Meego, it was after the Nokia fiasco that they completely changed gears to support Android.
I’m sure they would love to support a OS that may primarily support their Chipsets and Processors.
I for one hope intel isn’t involved, as intel likes the “lock in” route that annoys so many
ya maybe intel or there may be chance for amazon mobile, may be because of rumured amazon phone

If the carriers was intelligente they sould support and invest in this alternative. Total dependence on the MS, Google, Apple triumvirate can’t possibly be a good prospect for them.
Jolla Mobile has more hype than Windows Phone! This says a lot about Windows Phone, dull!
there are more windows mobile users than meego, so wp got more hype with dissatisfation than jm
At least Stephen Elop is not involved with Jolla Mobile…

Doubtful. They will make something userfriendly and easy to use for sure – that’s something N9 is known for. Truemultitasking with easy-to-use developer tools for app-making.

Off topic – Got my nokia N9 yesterday after a massive fight with my alterego which told to wait for WP8 lumia. I must admit, meego is some GOD LEVEL tech!! Swipe has never been so awesome…Since I am in India, I am among the lucky few users of N9. I don’t expect any software updates and support coz I am happy with what I have got!(yeah…That’s why I bought it even after the core team left Nokia). Happy swiping
Vanjoki was against Meamo and linux based devices inside Nokia. I can sure you it’s for the best that Vanjoki has nothing to do with Jolla.
Good thing he isnt involved, he destroyed Nokia and is an idiot who knows nothing of the phone market
