Nokia Boasts Indoor Mapping in over 4000 Locations/38 Countries #NokiaServices

Seems like someone has been listening to Jays Rants about the lack of Nokia Advertising, sure it’s not on a huge scale but taken on “other opponents” claims is a nice step forward. Nokia Conversations just published this pretty infographic (see above) that details the distribution of the 4605 indoor venues that are currently available on nokia maps.
To date, we have mapped 4605 venues – shopping malls, retail stores, airports, and transit hubs – in 38 countries with more being added every month. This is over a 2000% increase in just 16 months. Wait until you see what happens in the next 16 months.
Nokia even went as far as calling out the lousy 2D maps that competitors provide (in only 5 countries) tooting their own maps that carry loads of details including end to end Experience, with ATMs, Escalators, Floor Levels, Restrooms and much more.
While other providers claim to have powerful indoor map offerings with a large number of venues mapped, Destination Maps are not just the average 2D floor plans that can be viewed on a device. Our indoor map content enables a full end-to-end experience, making the exploration and discovery of indoor places more realistic. Further, Destination Maps include a wealth of interior map attributes, like escalators, floor levels, ATMS and restrooms. Including these important points allows for more advanced and accurate guidance and routing.
Why is this the first I hear of Nokia’s indoor maps? I never knew they existed for offline usage/Mobile usage (as in not the PC browser); but apparently they’re already integrated into Bing search as well.

indoor mapping in over 4500 locations…. sigh nokia…. here you see android yelling off the top of a mountain about having mapping of the smithsonian and nokia is just once again sleeping at the wheel
Nokia has demoing their in-door mapping at the Nokia Worlds of past years, it is pretty cool stuff.
it’d be great if it can lead me to my missing tv remove or my phone which is in silent inside my house…
Just kidding.. Jokes apart… nokia rocks! Never doubted it once
Nokia ftw
This is called jay’s bomb.
Ok I really don’t get this, Bing maps which is using all Navteq technology has these indoor maps in their web browser version at least. But try going to maps.nokia.com and look for the same places there? Not finding them? me neither! How is it possible that Nokia conversations are bragging about indoor mapping, and I cant find any list of these places, none of these places in hmm, NOKIA maps! In which universe does these Nokia indoor maps exist?
Ok, so I have a Lumia 900 and am heading to a mall. How do I actually use these Destinatio Maps?
My guess is there is no way to do that (other than through Bing search perhaps), but I am happy to be proven wrong.
cool!
Bangladesh is not covered yet? I should cast my E5 into a dustbin. R.I.P Nokia.
lol.. not even South Africa and we rule Africa..anyway i Know we will be on the next update..
Forget about those places, where is Stockport?

Nokia indoor mapping @ Helsinki-Vantaa airport in Finland.
Thats cool and all, but its just a demo of a concept. I cant find a single real life video or review video or blogpost. Where does this Nokias 4000 places hide? Can someone give an example or a place which I could check on my browser or my N9?
So when will this actually be available?
hey i think i got it, they are saying that they gathered all the data of mall, etc.. and are gathering.. and why we are not seeing that data??? because they are going to announce it in the launch of nokia wp8 devices so that nokia wp8 devices will get more popularity and all good.. just my thought, hope it might be true… and long live nokia haha
Location, location, location…
Good call, there.
Ok thats plausible. And then again why on earth would they brag about something like this on conversations if its not even available yet? Maybe this is part of the famous Nokia marketing, lets market something which doesnt exist yet and leave readers hanging looking for this mysterious indoor mapping.
may be because of todays post on map advertising? Or maybe they are going to unveil it soon or may be the writer thought it was already announced and posted it and unveild suspence and may be he is now geting fired or maybe they are just showing off they tech like bending screens in nokia world so later on after fully optimization we can see it??? and may be what i said all is rubbish lol..
Good thought there! Nokia did say that they would bring added features to their mapping solution that further differs them from the rest. This just may be one aspect of what would be different from others offering Nokia maps on WP8. Hopefully there is more to come too! 3D maps, location based services etc.
