I really miss Situations on N9.. It was very helpful to automatically control my N8 in different.. well, situations Now that the UI is pimped-up, I miss it even more
Thanks, but I tried it already. Profilematic doesn’t have one feature that’s crucial for me – changing profile based on calendar events. Also I was not able to turn WiFi scanning off on the N9. You kinda need to misuse the Power Saving option for that.
It appears that this “Situations” is not the same software which used to be called “Nokia Situations” and was available for Belle until recently in Nokia Beta Labs. According to the comments at Nokia Store, the two core team members of Nokia Situations left (were fired from?) Nokia and (re?)created that independent app, now available in Nokia Store.
As pointed out in the store comments, there are some significant differences between the beta and the new paid version. The new version apparently has:
- possibility to filter all day meetings.
- possibility to filter meetings by keyword.
- possibility to un-enable a situation, eg for vacation period.
There also are significant changes in the UI.
The new version, however seems to be missing:
- activation of situation by location of nearby cell towers.
Both the old and new versions still appear to have some bugs.
I hope this app will develop into something like Tasker for Android, which has a lot more functionality.
I have just recieved e-mail from Nokia Beta Labs confirming that the new Situations is a continuation of the old Nokia Situations. Here is the full text:

Situations app for Symbian introduced by Pastilli Labs
Hi,
We have some exciting news for fans of the popular Nokia Situations app.
Pastilli Labs, founded by two core members behind the Nokia Situations app, has finalized spin-off negotiations with Nokia and is proud to announce that a new improved application is now available for a wide range of Nokia devices running Belle software.
The application has gone through a number of improvements:
- UI is totally new and intuitive for easy definition of your situations
- Location can be set using maps based UI
- Time condition now allows multiple schedules with selection of weekdays
- Improved calendar condition includes filters based on keyword, only alarmed events or only recurring events
- Bluetooth and WiFi conditions have been redesigned to be more reliable
- Profile can be used in multiple situations and the use of Power Save mode and SMS reply are improved and more reliable
Note that you will no longer receive any application update to the old Nokia Situations app. At this time we are also concluding the Nokia Situations beta trial at Nokia Beta Labs.
Thanks for your interest in Nokia Situations and for your participation at Nokia Beta Labs.
I have been running the (BetaLabs) Nokia Situations for months and have not experineced any noticeable impact on battery life. I am not using the GPS location (do not even know if it is available in the Beta version).
The impact on battery life is positive because you can set services like bluetooth and wifi to shutdown automatically during hours when you wouldn’t normally need them e.g. when you are sleeping.
I don’t use the GPS location service either, figuring that it would be an obvious battery hog.

Try profilematic, it has more or less the same stuff for N9.

The new Situations app in the store is the redeveloped version of the app.
