Video: 18 Minute video review of Nokia Asha 306

| July 30, 2012 | 24 Replies

Someone who calls themselves ‘Dr Technology’ has published their video review of the Nokia Asha 306 (Full Touch S40) on YouTube. We’ve shown you their unboxing some time ago so it’ll be interesting to see how they found using the 306.

Note, Asha full touch S40 is an even nicer experience on the capacitive screened 311. This helps the feel of being responsive. Swipes should be feather light and resistive screens make this difficult.

      I feel like I’m being a racist but, I .. can’t .. listen .. to .. it .. either!

      • loci says:

don’t worry, I think it’s safe to state that. When I imagine it with a heavy German accent, as some people from my country have, my imagination tells me it wouldn’t sound all toooo pleasant either…

zis iss ze njuu fone… hehehe…

I am from Pakistan and well, still I feel how you feel. I felt it the last time I watch a review from him(/her!). I thought it was from India.

  3. SLAYER says:

the 311 has higher specs in general, not just the capacitive screen

  4. Maybe says:

for better touching using resistive please use your fingernails…
Resistive is far more accurate compare to capacitive…

    • poiman says:

What you mean is that resistive is a big CR*P!

    • Jay Montano says:

Accuracy is great if we’re using needle point styluses, not fat fingers.

    • FireDragon says:

True that. Nothing can come closer to Resistive when it is about accurate touch. Resistive screens can be sensitive too close to capacitive. The unit I use from Sony Ericsson I never felt much difference and I hardly use Stylus, only when I need to Write something or Sketch something. On Capacitive it is just impossible to do it.

      • Maybe says:

I’ve been using both capacitive and resistive touch screens for several years. It really convenience that resistive can touch precisely where you want cause it detects the area with the most pressure. Well it’s hard for people to admit the truth..

        • FireDragon says:

          Exactly.

Different users have different approach to use a device. And people need to understand this and respect it.

For me Capacitive is a complete waste with those big screens for ME (and users like me). I could use it as sketch pad easily but no, and no I don’t want to talk about finger-painting, nor the 100% actual Wacom like output but at least, if I want to draw a line I could do it without any trouble with resistive. I could start a line from a specific point and end it on a specific point. These things are just impossible with capacitives, even with the capacitive stylus.

This phone is awesome for its category, cheap android included, tried a few in the shop deciding what to buy, found the resistive touchscreen very responsive as compared to earlier nokia resistive phones viz. Nokia C2-02,C3-00,et al. Of course there are few glitches on zooming using multitouch. The notifications are a nice touch also has some more ways of multi tasking though not like android, symbian or meego. Bought it for my cousin who was coming from C2-06 she was ecstatic with it,cost about $82,sim free. Made me really want to try out Asha 311 when it comes out.

everyones praising 306, i too had praised it but in reality cheap androids zre better than this java phone, may be nokia should come with a better solution to face this cheap droids

  6. twig says:

I think she is used to something else and doesn’t like something different. The phone is loud, but she didn’t like it? She said it was slow ,except in the video. Lol. Is cutetube available? This is a predetermined outcome video.

    • loci says:

Yeah, there are quite a few bits and pieces in it where she could have made it more professional rather than just saying “very childish games on this device”… *ugh*, or “the camera quality is not good at all” – period. Just referring back to the 305 review isn’t helpful, she should have reiterated some of the points for those that do not wish to watch the 305 review just to understand points of criticism of the 306.

And yes, she really could have stressed some of the good points more…

Have someone look the whole vid???… at the end, He/She shown a game called the Amazing Cowboy, that game has the exact same gameplay of a game called Dalton The Awesome (ColorBox Studio, Symbian), they both are from the same guys??? ColorBox if my memory isn’t failling me…
