Clinton’s verdict?
I’d still say the PureView is the best camera phone you can get right now, because it is. The Galaxy Camera is nice and all, but for the price you could get an actual camera with way better specs instead of opting for this one, which you have to admit, has okay/average results at best. If you choose a PureView, you probably want a slim (ish) phone that is always there with you, that you can take out and take a picture of your friends any time, any where.
With the Galaxy camera, you still have a bulky camera, that is another accessory to carry along with your phone.
Cheers for the tip, Jill

I think it’s a close call as any comparison we’ve seen, but the galaxy camera is a camera, not a phone.
Nokia beating another P&S camera? Nothing new.
Yeah the Galaxy could give the PureView a competition but with that size, it should’ve been better in proportion with the size of the 808. AND the Galaxy doesn’t make phone calls.
I’d rather bring with me a
smartphone,
a powerful camera,
GPS/maps,
internet browser (I’m talking about Opera for the hard-to-please),
game console,
organizer,
music player,
video player,
multimedia beast
rolled into a beautifully-crafted and kinda hefty device called the Nokia 808 PureView.
To me the Pureview shot looks to have more noise, while the Galaxy camera one is smoother. And don’t forget Galaxy Camera is probably a lot cheaper than PureView. So even if Pureview beats it, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise considering it’s twice the price and is designed mostly as a camera, too.
breaking news…
in india GALAXY is 30k while 808 is 25k…
i dont know about you bt i wont buy a product which cant be a phone nd if we call it a cam its too expansive for a NORMAL can
i will.get a DSLR at nearly same price…
a BIG no to samdung….
The PureView performed pretty well against a dedicated camera
it outperformed the galaxy….
I doubt that, depends on which metric you’re assessing*, certainly in many areas, but not necessarily overall.
But given that it’s not a dedicated camera, the 808′s certainly doing extraordinarily well.
*no doubt the galaxy sw needs more refinement too
oO wut you can just tell from the images…
At a quick glance, the Samsung camera appears to be generating better contrast in the shadows than the 808 phone.
Quick glance is not enough when comparing photographs. You need to look into detail. Just check out the following article with critical point of view of the author. He takes the same shots above by UnleashThePhones to write in detail.

Nokia 808 Pureview FTW
yes, pureview is still the best cameraphone. Proud to be an owner
the galaxy is a dedicated camera. So its not fair. Just coz a camera runs android doesnt make it a camera phone
ehem The pureview has been beating top notch point and shoots, so it is a fair comparison
correct!
Looking at the pictures above, my eyes says 808 performs better than the SGCam.
pretty impressive (the galaxy) but the pureview is still better
the galaxy seems to be overexposed and its colour reproduction seems to stink
IMO both look off, but it’s pretty much impossible to say for sure without having been there. So much depends on the lighting.
IMO pureview is million times better. It has much more detail and clearer result. Look at the Galaxy Note II text.
Just add little more contrast on Pureview photos and done

Am i the only one seeing it! Pureview gat d colours right… look at the samsung logo and galaxy lll. Galaxy camera over-exposed with whiteness though it gat more angle view than 808.
galaxy camera have 21x optical zoom though. the only thing that win pureview
Being an amateur photographer, when I see 21x optical zoom, first thing came across my mind is that we’ll get a crappy lens.
Unlike pureview which is something new, 21x zoom is normal in the camera market, and we all know they are barely good enough for snapshots.
But credit to Samsung for trying, I’m sure it’ll find home in many consumer’s pocket.
the galaxy camera is absolute senseless. when i want to carry an extra camera, i would take a proper one with me.
You got that right.
808 is something innovative coming out from an engineering department.
Galaxy camera came out of the marketing department.
I’m sick of this 808 and we all know it’s just a camera , why not compare speed Internet browser and other things , we know that it will always take better pictures is just a camera please
are you stupid??????
oh yeah? well.. your stupid.. so shut up!!!!
Stupid question
s
stupid dog!
@robin
Hold on, the samsung is still a camera right? It cant make calls, sms, so its not a camera phone. If I want really good quality pics, there’s the DSLR.
Yeah .. You’re right
look at the write “samsung” and “galaxy note II”… 808 wins
808 is king of the camera phone in world of best camera phone !
Samsung truly has steal the heart of millions with such a cool gadget like Samsung Galaxy Camera. Its like a mini smart phone and a mini tablet.
Nokia 808 sensor is way bigger than Samsung Galaxy (1/2.3″). Check out the actual sensor comparison:

Not looking good for galaxy.
Well, the nokia one is a greater value for money..
In a sentence…
From a programmer’s view, Symbian has more potentianls but lacks a market
