Video: Nokia Lumia 920 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 size comparison.
This video shows a size comparison between the Nokia Lumia 920 and the SGSIII from Sammy.
You can see the SGSIII is just slightly taller, both pretty much identical in width. SGSIII is slightly slimmer.
If you didn’t see the buttons and the logo, it would seem that there is a spectacular use of space from Nokia. But no, that’s a nice space eating bezel, especially at the bottom (we’ll say it’s because innovation takes a bit of space :p :p)
Cheers Jill!

- Nokia Lumia 920 vs Samsung GS3: video confronto dimensioni | September 13, 2012

I think you meant Nokia 920, as evident from the video.
Yes and as written myself in the post. Woops. Title fixed. Cheers.
Again with the bezel. Andre said it almost perfectly:
“I’m sure I’m not alone in having the experience of nearly dropping my device altogether because of hardware keys being much too close to the bottom of the device in order to accomodate much larger screens. As a result I believe that the placing of the keys on the Lumia 920 is for the best, bezel-haters be damned.”
Perhaps Nokia can implement virtual touch keys where the user sets however much bezel they want. :p Well, within the limit where the UI can scale to it.
Anyone owned N8? You remember that menu button down left corner. PAIN IN THE ASS tryig to press it when using phone one-handed.
Thin bezel on bottom might look nice, but it is not practical in any way. I don’t understand how people won’t get this. Even you Jay?!?!?
well if you have to have buttons! N9 for example can go as close as it likes
we, the n9 owners do not encounter such problem
hehehe
^_^
I guess that even N9 users have to press some UI element in the bottom left corner from time to time, don’t they?
Btw. I still don’t get the advantage of not having buttons at all but that’s a different story.
“I guess that even N9 users have to press some UI element in the bottom left corner from time to time, don’t they?”
Been explained in DETAIL before, that wasn’t the plan originally, they had to break that paradigm (in some instances), can’t recall all the reasons why now OTTOMH.
what do you have to press down there on the N9 ? You swipe down to close apps, swipte sideways to minimize.. is it the “options” button down there in some apps ?
back button in some apps but its no problem…
Already said this on the suggestion thread, but how about moving those 3 buttons to the upper left side of the phone, there’s nothing there afaik, and they could be used by both right-handed( index, middle ring -fingers) and left-handed(thumb) people.
MS insists that they be at the bottom. But yeah, that would be a very practical solution.
So now sammy will find iPhone too stale to copy.. oh o, Nokia you better watch out! 1st iPhone and soon itll be you know whoo
do you guys see in the cracks on the back panel on the vid at 1:25 lol no comparison with nokia polycarbonate…!
the N8 with the bottom left button was a pain indeed when using it with one hand. The 920 will have that same problem even more so being so much larger. The N9 doesnt have that problem and Nokia/MS shouldve learned from it.
Quite on the contrary. The asymmetrical bezel means that the control buttons on the 920 will land higher up on the device, making them easier to reach when you’re cupping the phone with one hand.
I don’t even know how would you use this thing with one hand.. its way to wide for me. I had trouble using the 900, and the 920 is not any smaller.. its havier, and slightly wider..
I’ve held it, its about the same Size as the Lumia 900 but with much better ergonomics.
Read my post on the entire launch
These days it would just make sense to cater to two handed use more than one handed.
I have nokia 700, I almost never touch the hardware button (only to access multitask & power off), symbian belle is almost fully touchscreen.
I also have xperia u, I must touch return key every time I close application or even close menu, fortunately the return key is well placed.
how do you minimize apps ? You have to hit that menu key on the 700, no?
ah yeah, I forget, because I do it rarely
i used to do the same with my 700, the location of the keys was really good, but it was a pain for my left thumb when i was typing in landscape mode. i agree phones need space in the bottom and top of the device for proper handeling.
The 920 really is a stunning device!
He also says that the camera in the 920 is noticeably better than the SIII.
it looks good but i am afraid it is too big and heavy..
In Arnie voice: “What are you, a Girlie Man?!? GO THE GYM!”
Or as Finns would put it: “Are you a man or a berry picker?”
920 looks strong and muscular compare to SGS3
One thing I like about Nokia is that they don’t care about thickness of the phone.
That’s good, better to have a good camera and bigger batery than have a thin phone with a bad camera and a small battery.
The ideal thickness is around 1cm anyway.
I personally take on the Nokia N9 – it is still unbeaten, by all means.
