SneakPeak of New Notifications on WP8 Lock Screen (Twitter & FB Notifications)

new notifications in WP8

Since both Nokia and Microsoft have been extremely uncooperative when it comes to talking about the upcoming features of WP8, fans and readers are scanning every frame of the Nokia New York presentation for little clues, and it seems to have payed off. As you can see above there are new Twitter notifications on the homescreen, as well as what looks a lot like the Facebook’s trademark “f”. Previously when the SDK was leaked we discovered that the homescreen has the ability to support up to 5 different application notifications on the lock screen. Below we have a second set of notification icons, this time they seem to be Skype, outlook, AP news, Yahoo? and a Windows Icon (perhaps App updates?).

Personally the only feature I really want to see on the new Lumias is an always on Amoled Screen and Double Tap to Wake.

  1. Windows Phone 8 is to get Notifications on lock screen | Siliconia.Nokia | September 17, 2012

I hope so they will bring the sleep screen and tap to wake functions. If the rumors are true the WP8 has been released to Manufactures, hope Nokia has enough time to add new and exceptional features better than other OEMs.

  2. Adriano says:

Hah, n9 had those last year… (why nokia, why?) So sad… But 920 will definitely be mine this fall as soon as out

  3. Jyi says:

To be honest I’m not totally sold on the 920. I expected Nokia to set a standard with their new flagship but the hardware is pretty much just on par with current HTC and Samsung offerings. It also just seems to big of a phone, the N9 was a perfect size, design, and UI. I do want a new phone and its between the 920, SG3, and hate to say it the Iphone 5, simply because atleast apple can get stuff done when they say theyre going to. Nokia seems so slugish. I dread anytime i have to deal with Nokia service for any of my current (Lumia 800, Nokia N9) or past phones.

  4. Silthice says:

I love to double tap my N9

Loving that skype notification as well. I have no doubt about my next phone if Skype is natively integrated in this phone.

    • Grendell says:

+1 awesome that skype will be joining the feature list. I think too few people celebrate the fact that the 920 is on par with its competitors. Its a big thing that was a long time coming. Almost too long. Still, Im excited as to what the 920 will bring to the table. I carry an N9, a i4 and an N8 for awesome interface and hardware design, video calling and great image capture. Thanks to the 920, I can finally go back to carrying one device…or maybe 2. Can’t seem to let go of my N9. Even if as a backup phone.

All latest news now for WPs only! nothing for meego nothing for symbian again? To be candid, I must get reed of my 603 and go back to my trusty 6303i… Am tired of smartphone wars which usually wastes must of our precious time. They knows how to keep us waiting!

    • Hypnopottamus says:

“All latest news now for WPs only! nothing for meego nothing for symbian ”

Only because there is ton of news on the WP front and next to NO news on the Symbian/Meego front. Not too hard to understand. It’s akin to complaining that there is too much news on regular sports and not enough on the Olympics right now. There’s just not much to report at the moment!

Edit: Unless that was your point. You WANT more coming out that’s new on Symbian/Meego?

  8. Joe says:

I dont get why Nokia is letting Apple and Samsung get the demand for customers looking to upgrade, and delaying its realease of the 920 and 820 devices. In no time they will be forgotten. If anyone was on the fence about it and then saw the Iphone come out and being a hot item as well as being available alot sooner than the Lumias, right there Nokia lost a potential customer.

    • Flava says:

Of course you won’t get it. You didn’t read the news…
WP8 itself isn’t officially released yet by MSFT, and it just begin entering the RTM phase. Probably still 1 and half or 2 months away before it’s ready for market.

  9. M says:

Now that Apple got there announcement out of the way. Here’s hoping Nokia announces the availability of the two new Lumia s sometime next week before the 21st and give people a chance to preorder them early. Something tells me Nokia’s still negotiating with carriers over who’s willing to carry what. I hope I’ll be able to buy a LTE 920 unlocked instead of tied to a carrier.

“Personally the only feature I really want to see on the new Lumias is an always on Amoled Screen and Double Tap to Wake.”
Amen Ali … always on clock is out of reach for LCDs , though i still want the Tap to wake feature.

    • jiipee says:

Amen x2. Sleep screen coupled with Billboard app reduces the waking up of phone a lot. One can have also date, baytwry charge, status, song playing, next calendar events etc readily available.

    • DesR85 says:

I’d welcome a standby clock as I liked it too, but the rest like the ‘Always On’ screen and ‘double tap to wake’ features are something I can live without (I’d still welcome it if it is available, but won’t kick up a fuss if it isn’t).

  11. tholj says:

Will those notifications come to WP7.8?

  12. JGrove303 says:

so the 700 and 701 can’t usr Sleeping Screen? They’re missing out.

  13. dsn says:

Sorry for this, this is a bit off topic. There is a poll going on in wired.com and it seems all exiting for the Lumia 920.it is voted way above galaxy s3 and closing in on iPhone 5

  14. LaW says:

i really like the double tap on the n9, it makes it easier when u have no physical button. guess i have to get use to no buttons, since uing a galaxy s2.

  15. nakekate says:

nothing to see here, waiting for special edition of kate topless pictures:)
