The above screenshots are what appears to be the promised “Ringtone maker” coming to all Nokia WP 7.8 Devices (alongside bluetooth sharing and some other cool features). As you can see there seems to be an option to crop out and select your preferred part of your desired ringtone, which would probably mean that the RingTone maker is connected to your music library. For now there are some alternative apps on the WP store such as: This and this; but there is yet to be an app that can create a ringtone from your own MP3 files on the device.

What a Joke….Nokia now needs to create specific software just to allow ppl to make custom ringtones. Whereas previous Nokia can set any song as ringtone.
Moreover its on Bluetooth File Sending only not receiving. You cannot receive files via Bluetooth.

Our ringtone recording app certainly can, but you’ll have to record your music through your phone’s speaker. See this video:

Unfortunately, third-parties don’t have access to the underlying data streams from the media library, so they cannot access the media files directly the way Nokia can. Our approach may look hackish, but it still gives really good results. It’s kind of a shame really that third parties aren’t able to access the media files, because we could create fabulous apps such as DJing apps with beatmatching, karaoke apps, etc.

That makes Windows phone sound really secure, and I like that. As opposed to giving away your info and phone’s data/location/etc in an attempt to get more advert revenue like Google does with android.

In my opinion, the only thing anyone should be aloud to DJ with is vinyl.

7.8 update looks promising to me. Really counting on Microsoft and Nokia to stir up the competition with Windows Phone 8 though.

On a side note, that’s Matisyahu! I love his music!

Nokia seem to be focusing a lot on Bluetooth features aside from the Ringtone maker and the new Start screen. I hope that 7.8 offers a lot of the necessary consumer features like the USB Mass Storage mode (or some form of USB mode that allows drag and drop without the need for Zune) to name a few.

  8. each time i used to read smaller articles or reviews that also clear their motive, and that is also happening with this article which I am reading here.
