Video: Innovative Nokia Lumia 920 vs New iPhone 5 body comparison (WP8 demo on October 25)
TheUltimat111/Eugen for the English speaking audience of WP7Forum.ru records a very nice side by side comparison of the innovative Nokia Lumia 920 and the new iPhone 5.
They were not allowed to demo WP8 features because Microsoft were still scoffing away at their donuts. You’ll see the features apparently on October 25, launch date for W8, a few days before Oct 29 launch of WP8.
Holding in the hand, apparently it’s a matter of taste. He says he won’t judge the UI before completely testing.
Also note the position of the arrow. I think it might be better this way because I still keep seeing folks pressing the arrow as a button when a swipe to the right is just easier.
Cheers MNhut and Eugen. for the tip!

no iso nada
the iphone5 looks archaic
It does. When the iPhone 4 came out it was striking because of the unusual looks, but that was about it. It’s sort of like having food with a slight pungent flavour to it.
Weaksuace video. Why bother if you can show anything? At least beat them together or something so we and see the cheap annodize come off the iPhone5.
Just see how careful he tried not to drop the iphone 5 on the table, that shows it.
I dropped my N8 on the tarmac while jogging, not a scratch, now that’s proper anodize. Plastic parts are scratched though.
Had a fair share of experience playing with i4, they just felt so fragile…
I have lost my hopes in Nokia since they join Microsoft and their OS. But between those 2 I choose 920, because I can see really innovation on it. Nokia is returning step by step for my satisfaction, but still this is not my Nokia, the one which I proudly used for many years.
I’d still be damn proud to carry the 920, or the 820 for thar matter. Damn fine phones packed with features the competition, and indirect competition, doesn’t have, with applications that the copetition didn’t think of and a build quality that you could literally use to physically destroy the competitions’ devices with.
Samsung ATIVS? THWACK!! Weak display with poor color representation. iPhone 5? WHAMMO!! Scratches like a soda can and dents just as easy. HTC 8X? Heh, would The Real Slim Shady please stand up? PUNT! Thete goes that featureless discoloured knock-off.
Meh. The iPhone 5 is still more enjoyable to use. iOS is still prettier than those tiles. Lumia 920 will end up just like the old Lumias in sale. The camera and the screen are not enough to lure customers to choosing it instead of the iPhone. Windows Phone is its major deal breaker.
id prefer samsung wave over an iphone
iOS has been stale for like 5 years already. You call that pretty? I call it uninspired and boring.
I think apples afraid to switch and since their sales are great “why change?” feels like they’re headed down the same path Nokia went with symbian
Innovation is enough to lure customers away from the old, fragile, never-changing, and boring. Stale is the perfect word to describe the iOS platform. It never changes. Oh wait!! iOS 6 has Facebook integration!!! =D Uhm…People Hub and Me Tile? But it has LTE now!!! ……and so does the Pantech Burst you can get for .99 which has been out for what, A YEAR??? Apple Maps is “the most beautiful, powerful mapping service ever”. However, today Apple has not only apologized for but has also removed that little portion in their description of Apple Maps in addition to recommending Nokia Maps and of all things, BING MAPS over the horridness that is Apple Maps. What about PANARAMA?!?!?!? SIIIICK!!! -___- you’ve got to be kidding me… So enlighten me. Why would I switch from my Lumia 900 (soon to be the Lumia 920) to this utterly superior mobile platform/device? What real reasons do you have?
I’m not convinced “a swipe to the right is just easier” than press a button.
To me a swipe at the whole screen seems to be more “difficult” than pressing a button. IMHO I have to move my finger for a longer distance when swipe.
But I also don’t like to swipe something to unlock the phone. IMHO a small slider-button on the side of the device is much smarter.
Ouch, IOS looks so boring and dated. Well, that’s one of the reasons why i won’t buy iphone anytime soon.
Great to see the Lumia 920 is not as bulky as some people scream when defending the iphone 5. It just looks elegant next to the dim, ageing, flat and fragile iphone. It makes me really want the 920! When’s it going on sale, Nokia?
me not a fan of this huge form factors, so none of them, but having to choose I guess the iphone since i can still reach the full UI with my thumb.
@noki With iOS you need to, with WP you don’t. Just check out the WP UI and you’ll notice.
