Rumour: Nokia Lumia 9XX for Verizon?

| October 11, 2012 | 22 Replies

I would normally discount random tweets for a rumour, but Viipottaja and Peter_L were apparently in discussion about these tweets so there may be some truth in it.

A tweet from someone based in NY, a Nokia PureView fan, said:

Finally got. Hands on lumia 9XX for verizon, can you guess it???what phone is that??? Hint wp8 of course :)

And another tweet that read:

Another hint: wireless charging and thinner lighter better #SwitchToLumia

It could absolutely be nothing. There were some random conversations before by others about a possible Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon and well that’s in pictures everywhere.

Could it be a 920 varient for Verizon? Some speculate Verizon would have to wait out until early 2013 for their 9XX variant whilst AT&T bask in the temporary exclusivity. Who knows.

I think he’s trustworthy remember 808 will have big camera hump??? Yes they have a pic about it
And I love he’s promote lumia around the world, many hater becomes lover and that’s great
      I trust him

And i’ll take lumia 910 for t-mobile please.
If not maybe for MWC we’ll see something from Nokia on all providers.

    I can dream can’t I

Agree, though i think the att version if unlocked will be HSPA and backward compatible with TMO’s upcoming LTE network.

I always thought this was a possibility but it may be released late November or early December but still before the Christmas sales.

Fortunately the T-Mobile and Verizon exclusives don’t look too flash (and Verizon’s never do, just look at the Droid range and the HTC Verizon range) so we won’t miss them around the world. They need a ‘Hero’ device on both Verizon and AT&T, especially Verizon because thats where the non-iPhone sales are at and AT&T has the reach unlike T-Mobile so its fairly important and Sprint’s sprint so no one really gives a shit. Its good to keep a strong relationship with T-Mobile though, they carried the only S^3 phone in the US and the first Lumia as well.

It will be interesting to see what this one looks like.

i don’t think so, there aren’t any reliable leaks to support this. but i bet verizon will get a high end lumia next year in q1 or q2. remember, if they announce a 808 successor, it’s got to get somewhere and i don’t know if at&t will have the exclusive on that one too

  5. Simo says:

It’s true that they were close to getting a deal done for a Verizon variant of the 920. I tweeted as such on Sept. 7 (@hasasimo).

    • viipottaja says:

Did they fail or are discussions still ongoing?

      • Simo says:

The only new information I have is that Nokia is mass-producing CDMA versions of the 920 (mostly for China), so Verizon could get in on these. I would be very surprised if Verizon doesn’t end up with some 920 variant.

Gonn go with fake. The handle name alone proves that it’s a wishing fan mor Ethan a real source. It’s the n8-02 all over again.

  7. James Scott says:

Well in my opinion US carriers are totally illogical so you never can tell what they will actually do.

What is most of that text? Tagalog?

  9. exsanguine says:

There was another rumor/oddity out today.

go to and search for lumia 910. Look at all the accessories that show up.

  10. KRakeN says:

maybe this one is the device we are hoping for…the mysterious 9XX

This definitely doesnt seem like a 920…
looks thinner, bigger, matte finish and the 920 has an earphone jack in the center…
    this one does not…
