Videos: Nokia Lumia 920 vs iPhone 5 video recording

| December 4, 2012 | 10 Replies

First up, video comparison between the Nokia Lumia 920 and iPhone 5.

This is split screen. iPhone 5 has a much narrower field of view. It looks overly misty in the iPhone video, as well as a lot more shaky.

Some Christmasy songs with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Not precisely the same viewpoint.

Hmm no HD video on the third clip with the iphone 5..

Yes – 1st video is comparison of video and those 2nd and 3rd videos are comparison of audio. Nokia Lumia 920 has 3pcs HAAC (High Amplitude Audio Capture) microphones and so the recorded audio is distortion free also at the loudest music performances and it can record also very low bass sound vs iPhone 5 has 2pcs nonHAAC mics and so the recorded audio at music concert recordings is many times distorted and it can’t capture low bass sound. Both of these devices uses mono recording.

Doesn’t matter when the music sounds terrible on Lumia and even being recorder from greater distance where the sound waves are much weaker when compared where iPhone 5 and so on 920 should get much better stronger and vibrant audio, still iPhone 5 manages to record music in better, even if you call it distorted.

How do you advertise this sort of thing effectively and concisely, to the world?

Despite everything, Nokia still has a lot of goodwill left, all over, everywhere. Everyone still loves Nokia.

    What other brand has that?!

That “everyone loves a comeback” ad had it right.

I totally believe in the Elop strategy. Recently I got a win 8 touchscreen hybrid laptop. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a piece of technology in years. I have yet to own a windows phone, my day to day is still the N9.

    Play on.

Lumia 920 has wide angle lens and
    awesome contrast than ip5.

    • Fri13

And the “awesome contrast” is reason why you can not even see details from artist gestures or face.

For iPhone 5 the sound is clear and gives the feeling of the environment. But it can not be compared well to 920 because 920 is very bass effected and clips high sounds off but because it is recorded much greater distance, it has easier job than what iPhone had front of all speakers.

And when you take video in very high contrast situations, you really want to get the low light visible of the subject in concert and where iPhone 5 shows the artist and her gestures with light show, 920 was just siluets and light show. 920 couldn’t even show who was the man on right, while on iPhone 5 could very well show the man face but still without overexposing lights.

The iPhone 5 wins on storage Mobiles because it comes in 16, 32 and 64GB options, and the Nokia Lumia 920 has only a 32GB option.
