Rumour: Nokia’s 10″ Windows tablet to resume production for MWC 2013 launch?

Digitimes reports that Nokia is to resume production of their tablet, ready for unveiling in MWC 2013, something Michael previously speculated.

Nokia’s currently firmly focused on smartphones and not letting tablets distract them (despite the growing popularity for them). Though they would enrich the Nokia Lumia portfolio by creating a cohesive family of connected devices.
Digitimes says that originally, Nokia had supposedly planned for a Q1 2012 launch but apparently due to the announcement of Surface and the market for W8 needing to be proven, Nokia delayed development of their tablet and concentrated on phones.
Cheers mamos for the tip!

magnifito!!…cant wait to have one ….still waiting for L920 to hit uk so i cud send someone to send it down to nigeria
Tablet or phablet? If there was a Tab 2 like phablet from Nokia, would totally love it!
Q1 launch, with RT becoming available halfway in to the second half of 2012? Yeeeeaa riiiight.
Maybe too many mushrooms?
Hmm, Intel based or ARM based? Clover Trail or S4 Pro (Quad).
DigiTimes hasn’t exactly proven themselves with sometimes baseless rumours, same goes for this; a tablet for Q1 2012? With what OS? WP? W8 was far from released back then, or are they implying they would use some other OS?
Either way, if they put something out in the size category of 9 to 10 inch with a decent screen an battery and at a good price it might go well.
To add to that, I’d probably have bought a Surface RT if it wasn’t for that maligned Tegra 3 SoC in there. That thing just reeks of old gym socks, it underdelivers madly and I don’t know why MS ever opted for Nvidia for it.
Agreed.
Even the new Intel Atom Cedarview processors are far more powerful and match the battery life! (and you get full backwards x86 compatibility!).
Atom had a bad name but the Cedarview are greatly improved.
If the Surface RT had come in at $299, the Tegra 3 would have been quite appropriate. Nothing wrong with it in the Nexus 7 or the upcoming $100 Ouya, but with the cheapest model at $500, + keyboard, it’s way under powered.
ARM based if its RT obviously.
Intel based would make it x86 and hence, full Windows 8 and its apps and actually……gasp….successful
If its multicore 22nm next gen Atoms running Windows 8, it will punch a hole in the large full price tablet segment and at least add to Nokia’s top line.
If its ARM based Windows RT, its DoA and will erode the bottom line.
that tablet plan for q1 2012 is the nokia senna tablet running meego not wp.phablet is coming.so is symbian phones.and 1080p nokia phablet is exclusive for nokia for 2 months so htc will not release in the mean tine
More Symbian Phones from Nokia. At the rate they killed the platform i really really doubt that. I think the only chance Nokia would even think of releasing another Symbian phone is when after the Q4 results they feel WP8 is a flop and it is finally time for Plan B rollout
Damn i didnt see your name.
Nokia is not allowed to used other OS. Only MS OS is permitted at Nokia. Too much MS political power in Nokia. You can see for yourself, MS now back again to using Nokia to push Win RT.
erm? they are only tied in to using MS as their “primary OS for smartphones” – meaning they are not tied to only use WP anyways.
Tablets are a different game altogether – but i really doubt ELOP would put out a MeeGo tablet anwyays
This is completely false. It makes sense for Nokia to make a compatible family of devices, but there’s nothing stopping them from using a different OS.
i guess its only a matter of time before nokia releases a tablet pc ….. and other devices.
the sooner the better because i want a nokia tablet now.

S4 Pro with Lumia 820 form factor. Mark my words.
Actually that makes lots of sense! An tablet with changeable shell/covers would be amazing and give Nokia the edge regarding differentiating from Surface.
Imagine covers for;
- Extra durable shell
- Wireless charging shell
- Slide-out keyboard shell
- Clamshell keyboard shell
- Shell which can function as table stand
- Leapmotion shell
- Docking shell (used for docking-stations at work)
- Music shell with extra microphones and extra big speakers
- Camera shell
- Proje

Something with the look of above picture.
Something with a 9″/10″ 1080p pure motion screen with Gorilla glass.
Something with a xxxxx mAh battery that is capable of 10 hours of video playback/web surfing.
Something with 2/4 A15 cores, 2+ GB of RAM and a GPU that can blow anything out there.
Something has a weight of below 600 gms and something is <10 mm slim.
That Something deserves my money and I am looking forward to get that Something from Nokia.:)
Forgot to mention about that something, if has the ability to call, will be like icing on the cake..
They need to do more with these win tablets with NFC and multi user stuff. Make them more complementary to each other since people are starting to own multiple tablets. “Smartglass” is still in its baby stages, there is so much potential.
wont be any different then the rest
wp hater….MAY YOUR CLAIMINGS COME TRUE!!!!LOVE SYMBIAN!!!I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SYMBIAN PHONE WITH DUAL CORE AT LEAST, AND 4 TO 5 INCHES SCREEN!!!!!SO NOKIA BRING US A NOKIA 808 SUCCESSOR!!!!THERE ARE STILL SYMBIAN FANS:p IF WILL CHANGE MY SYMBIAN PHONE FOR A WP,I WOULD DO THAT BEING COMPELLED…..BECAUSE I LOVE NOKIA:p SO SATISFY YOUR “SYMBIANERS”
maemo is the best OS i used like n900 but nokia abondan it . I dont know why . The symbian need only the games
Windows RT = Thanks, but no thanks!
3G/4G Lumia “Transformer” with Windows 8 = Shut up and take my money!
they’ve already messed up
WP7 – 8 on 3.5 – 4.5
W8 RT – ? -12′
w8 pro 12 – ?
already fragmented LOL
Windows RT needs to succeed, simply because ARM is the way to go. As much as Intel is improving battery life, it’s still nowhere near ARM, particularly with standby time.
But yeah, at the moment, it’s not really worth buying. (Unless it’s $200).
great timing..im planning to buy w8 tablet next yr but still couldnt find d best manufacturer.
Windows 8 for the tablet will be great. No for the RT tablet!
