Nokia Laser, Flagship Lumia WP8 coming to Verizon?

| January 25, 2013 | 22 Replies

Screen Shot 2013-01-24 at 23.57.10Tom Warren from TheVerge reports that a Nokia Lumia 920 like device is headed over to Verizon, codename, Nokia Laser. It’s also supposed to debut alongside codename Nokia Catwalk, the Aluminium bodied Lumia.

Microsoft is said to be backing Verizon’s Nokia Laser very heavily.

As a high end flagship for Verizon, the Nokia Laser will be marketed alongside rival top tier devices. As it should.

Cheers Viipottaja for the tip.

So, can we expect 4 different devices for the coming months ? :

    - Laser (≈ upgraded 920)
    - Catwalk (aluminium “9XX” ?)
    - EOS (aluminium “1XXX” ?)
    - & RT Tablet

I hope Nokia would release an awesome tab.. I’m already saving money to buy it x)

    • MNhut says:

      Oups, I forgot 1 device (the mid-range one) !

      • Janne says:

        Pretty good summary, yes.

I think the Windows RT tablet is a BIG question mark, will it come. The rest I think are far more certain.

I’m considering MWC a new beginning for Nokia. The slate is now clean, let the good times start rolling.

I wonder what the spec would be like for the Verizon device. If its the same lumia 920 internals I don’t know if that would cut it anymore.

    • viktor von d. says:

maybe not a pureview device. but it would be nice if they would stick the n8 sensor in there.other than that i don’t know what they could possibly do. maybe a bigger screen.
one thing that will be missing will probably be the sd slot. verizon doesn’t seem to like them in their phones

      • woofthewolf says:

Man I hope it has a microsd slot. The 822 has one. I’m holding off upgrading until the new Nokia WP8 phones come out. If they don’t have a slot, guess I’ll have to go with the 822. At least it’s free.

      • correct says:

920 is still popular and considered a trendy phone. It’s not going to suddenly “go out of style” if the Verizon model has similar specs.

A lot of people around the world still can’t get their hands on a 920 as supply is limited, so that is creating increased demand. People keep hearing about the 920 being out of stock, and that word of mouth spreads and makes average people more curious about the 920.

        • Bloob says:

Personally I’ve started to experience the opposite, people are buying other devices, because 920 is not in store. There aren’t that many (WP) people who will wait a month or more for a phone.

  4. RIM says:

Noria is smart. If you have a flagship dilute it as soon as you can.

  5. rudy says:

Can t-mobile get some high end love?

    • Viipottaja says:

They also need to ask for it. Not sure if they really are (i.e. their strategy in the US seems to be more in the mid to low end segments, but that might change now that they are rolling out LTE).

    • shallow ocean shoal says:

Seriously. Nothing more than off contract and unadvertised for crying out loud.

Just make it possible. 920 ain’t possible right now.

  6. Kyle says:

can’t i just get a frikin’ laser here?!!!

  7. ms.nokia says:

nokia laser = pico projector ????

    • shallow ocean shoal says:

I like the idea, but I think it has more to do with Verizon’s seemingly testerone nutsack Lance Armstrong doping ballsack hairy Android balls scrotum Droid Roid advertising campaign.

    • DesR85 says:

That sounds very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Beam if you ask me. One look and what comes to mind is ‘gimmick’. It may be useful for watching movies on the go as a portable projector, but aside from that, it’s just meh.
