Nokia Lumia 620 sold out on O2 promo, (price back up now, due for 7-day delivery)

Screen Shot 2013-02-14 at 00.45.55Were any of you lucky enough to get the promo Nokia Lumia 620 from O2 for £119.99?  Tom Forth tweeted us saying he got his this morning but linked us to the page above where they were out of stock! A few readers noted some retail stores were very quickly out of stock.

O2 has put the price back up and has placed a 7-day delivery (when they can get stock back from Nokia perhaps).

At £149.99-£224, reviewers had already noted this was how an entry level smartphone should be, and that it was the best WP due to all the features for that little price. What more when it was just £119.99?

Were you able to get one at that price?

The 620 doesn’t appeal to me but this is the phone that should drive up the Lumia sales numbers. Although for the market share to really start increasing they should sell it for £99 off contract.

Or give it away for free! Heck, I’m sure that if O2 or Nokia payed customers 20£ per phone, the market share would really shoot up!

      • Viipottaja

They could also give two for each buyer? ;) :-P

I got one as an ‘upgrade’ from my n8 :D

    samdung at its best.

“The ‘firewall’ between component sales and smartphones [at Samsung],” individual familiar with Nokia’s component orders from Samsung states, is “about as sturdy as a pile of kimchi.”

The individual stated that Samsung has “a record of getting orders for next-gen components, then canceling the orders. And then they show up in a Samsung phone. When you see a Samsung ‘bendy’ OLED phone as you surely will, you are looking at something that was stolen from Nokia.”

And foolish Meego and Symbian devs actually support Android and Samsung, as well as Blackberry? Blackberry who is using a lot of Samsung components in their Z10 device.

This is why I will never support Android or Samsung.

It’s a great thing that Apple is cutting ties with Samsung, and Nokia is also planning the same. The less Samsung dependence there is the better.

how would nokia get parts then? will nokia become a OEM? as in they manufacture their own RAM, and stuff? i think THAT will be interesting.

    • Dr.Smart

The article is total nonsense. The so-called anonymous individual familiar with Samsung has no clue. My source tells that the firewall is real. Samsung is divided between DS (components) and DMC (phones/TVs) units (in addition to Networks, PC and white goods units) which are virtually independent to each other. The annual PS (profit sharing) bonus is determined on the basis of individual unit’s performance. So DS people used to cheer when iphones were doing very well. As for bendy display.. give me a break.. Nokia does not build its own panels, and the tech is all Samsung’s.

      • Viipottaja

None of that really demonstrates that they would not give their other corporate divisions priority access to all components though, does it? As they of course probably should.

      • correct

Your “source” is bullshit. The facts were all there for the public to see during last year’s Apple versus Samsung big trial in the US.

The evidence there showed that no such firewall actually exists. The trial showed that Samsung does whatever it takes to copy and steal ideas.
