It may or may not come as a surprise that MS are already working on the NEXT version of Windows, Windows 9 and Windows Phone 9.

Job postings from Microsoft detailed testing of W(P)9 on Nokia. I wonder what Family Room features on WP8 are? Note the listing says Windows Phone test service team, testing Windows 9 OS on Nokia (not Windows Phone 9). Could be a typo, or as speculated, another name change (as some people already call WP8 windows 8)

Anywhoo, we have heard recently that major updates will be compatible to current WP8 Lumias. That should be obvious but knowing what happened with WP7.5, it’s better to be safe and certain than sorry. Whether this update will be a 0.5 style update (e.g. 7.0 to 7.5 that does bring in some useful features), something quite major (like the Service Pack like Blue update that apparently will appear through the store to update things like the browser) or an actual full integer update, I don’t know.Screen Shot 2013-03-13 at 13.01.26Source: MsftKitchen.com via NeoWin
