babbelwp8-nokiaEngadget’s Darren Murph who writes about this story says he’s had a positive experience with Babbel’s language learning service.

I’ve not tried it before but positive experience from other notable users is good to hear. In the store, it mentions that these are lesson 9. Engadget spoke with a Babbel spokesperson who says the apps “are mainly vocabulary trainers with 3,000 words broken down into themed lessons”

These ones are really just for learning vocabulary. You’ll need to register for free if you haven’t already got a log in to unlock the rest of the vocab. It speaks the words for you which is nice, but then it also has a “deep learning” bit where it shuffles the words and you have to pick out what is the correct word. I’ve already learnt what a locksmith is (la serrurière?). I wonder if they’ll bring a Finnish one out? Or possibly the full suite where you’ll learn phrases?
