WP8.1 AKA Windows Blue Appears on “P4301″ and the 920 Via AdDuplex

| May 4, 2013 | 19 Replies

DSC01507For a while now AdDuplex has been able to provide a pretty reliable stream of information about the breakdown of the Windows Phone market-share in terms of OEMs and Software versions.

The latest tease from AdDuplex is some instances of Windows Phone 8.1 (which has been rumored to be Windows Phone Blue) appearing on a Nokia “tests device P4301″ as well as the 920 (and the unspeakable 8X). As a reminder WP8.1 is only rumored to roll out after both GDR2 and GDR3 updates, which are supposed to come out sometime this year  (GDR2 is supposed to bring Sleeping screen and a better camera UI, while GD3 is set to bring 1080p support and more cores).

I think they have to go through the testing process and then go through the testing process with the different carriers.

    P4301? WTF Pureview 43mp EOS (1st debut)

  3. Janne says:

Windows Blue will never come to Lumia 920!

    Microsoft will never allow this!

Nokia will never update their phones again like they did with Symbian under OPK!

(No wait, my message doesn’t make any sense.)

I don’t want to get anybody’s hopes up, but the Nokia P4301 test device was originally a WP7 handset ie. single core, 480×800, 512mb ram

I think that P4301 is actually the codename for that squarish, thick-ish, >4.5 inch screened developer device used to show early builds of WP8 at a certain MS conference last year. Or a derivative thereof, since it’s labeled as a test device and not RM-xxx, as AdDuplex has usually reported [prototypes of] products in that way up to now.
