Screen Shot 2013-05-16 at 16.00.14One step at a time eh? One of the goals for WP for both Nokia and MS was that it should be a legitimate third option against the duopoly of Android and iOS.

TheVerge reports than in terms of smartphone shipments, BlackBerry has been overtaken by WP. Something that some said would never happen. It’s still relatively small figures with WP climbing to 3.2% from 2.6% whilst BlackBerry declines from 3.2% to 2.9%. Android’s shipments continue to race which explains why despite a great quarter for Apple, their marketshare still decreased to 17.3%. That could perhaps speak some volumes regarding WP’s ability to increase in even tougher climates.

Speaking of Android, Engadget reports that 95% of all Android profit goes to Samsung.

How exactly are Nokia and MS going to break into double digits for global smartphone sales? Nokia have a good approach with high end experiences in entry level devices. But they still need ever stronger flagships to raise the image of the brand too.

Cheers Alvester and ms.nokia for the tip!
