Lumiapps: Nokia Smart Camera-lIke action lens – “Burton” for Lumia

BURTON

In case you weren’t aware of it, there’s been an app for Nokia Lumia devices that’s been available for a while that gives you a lens for your camera – the Burton Lens. This allows you to have action shots where you can superimpose a subject over several frames into one picture.

Nokia most recently showed the latest iteration with Nokia Smart Camera. The difference in terms of usability and quality is absolutely night and day. Nokia Smart Camera just takes a picture, and you can see all the frames together and just tap and add where you want the subject to appear with options to increase/decrease fading. In the Burton app, you take a video and then that gets processed and then you pick frame by frame (out of 11) the subject you want by painting it in and then process it. It’s cumbersome and the result isn’t always ideal. But it’s enough to impress friends of mine who don’t really expect shots like this to come straight from a phone.

So until you can get Nokia Smart Camera in the 925, you can try the Burton lens.

Note, the Nokia Smart Camera doesn’t just have Action shot, but Best Shot, Motion Focus, Change Faces (face swap, not demoed in this video) and remove objects. What’s even better on Nokia Smart Camera is by having it as the default lens, you don’t need to decide that you have to select it first.
