What’s the difference between the Nokia Lumia 925 above and others you’ve seen or the one that might be in your hand?

You can place that directly on top of a Wireless Charging plate, without a wireless charging cover and it will charge!

Now, it was thought that the reason wireless charging was not included in the 925 was due to space constraints. It’s much thinner than the 920, and lighter too, something the reviewers enjoyed. A worthwhile compromise? In some reviews, the lack of inbuilt wireless charging was noted. Imagine how much cooler it would be if Nokia had managed to fit that in whilst also being slimmer?

Well, this set of Instructions on PDF show that it is possible to do that. You’ll void your warranty if you proceed, but apparently you don’t need to be that much of an expert to get it done. Note, the tutorial is in French.

This has apparently been in use for 2 weeks now without any issues. It’s 143g (instead of the usual 139g). Perhaps Nokia had considered it and there were other issues to deal with? Or perhaps there are other reasons why it’s not there.

According to some terrible translation, there’s apparently no thickness seen? (Or perhaps not that obvious? I don’t know I don’t have the modded 925)
