Video: @PianoBusker and Manchester Drummer filmed on Nokia Lumia 925; OIS test, Stereo Rich Recording, ProCam Zoom

Here are a couple of street musicians from Manchester filmed on the Nokia Lumia 925 with ProCam. Listen out for that quality audio, stable handheld video and zooming.

In the Drummer video you can see that there’s no clipping exhibited (that harsh tone when it’s too loud. N8 suffered this unfortunately despite sounding awesome in all other respects).

With the Piano Busker you can hear all the more delicate notes of the two pianos simultaneously played picked up by the 925. I was listening to both videos through headphones and I had to keep taking them off as I thought I kept hearing my housemates at the door but it was just the microphones picking up the audio very clearly.

For musicians, it’s important to get your music out there and in the best quality possible. The high amplitude audio capture stereo microphones on the likes of the Nokia Lumia 925/920/928/1020 (other Lumias also have HAAC mics, just not stereo, no?) capture the best quality sound possible and all in the camera of the smartphone that’s always with you.

Zooming needs to stutter less. Even add a delay perhaps from swiping or pinch and zooming to deliver a smooth transition? (Sometimes it’s smooth, other times it’s not. Just needs some consistency).

YouTube offers the usual digital stabilisation which also helps stabilise it further but I’ve left that off do demonstrate OIS. With video capture for a long time, software has been able to improve stability of videos, but I’m not sure how they could go about capturing great audio if the mics weren’t up to it in the first place.
