Nokia US: Goodbye DSLR. Hello Nokia Lumia 1020

Here’s a quick promo from Nokia USA saying goodbye to DSLRs and Hello Nokia Lumia 1020. That first comparison of a Nokia and a DSLR was first popularised by ex Nokia, Mr Anssi Vanjoki. What an absurd notion – a cameraPHONE replacing a DSLR?

But with the likes of the 808 and 1020, there are aspects where that portability and versatility along with that amazing imaging quality really can make some leave their DSLR behind and just have their oversampling enabled Nokia PureView phone instead. This notion is old but true: The best camera is the one you have with you. Most of us will always have a phone in their pocket. I don’t carry my 60D to that many places.

Of course, DSLRs will have their benefits. I’m still going to be using my 60D. It’s just nice to see (from independent comparisons, along with Nokia’s own promotions) that Nokia phones are coming so close to competing with some of THE BEST DSLRs ever made.
