Accessories: Sandisk Extreme Plus 64GB MicroSD for Nokia Lumia 1520 – video no longer stuttering.
Just arrived home from a long day at GP (pretty fun) and this was at my door. I ordered another 64GB microSD card, despite only just purchasing one a couple of weeks ago because for some reason, the video was skipping/stuttering when recording with Nokia Camera.
Recording to the phone memory vs the old Sandisk Ultra was like night and day. The phone memory was a much nicer experience when using the Smart Camera mode. The wait times were awkwardly long on the memory card. And of course, there’s no skipping issues when saving to phone memory.
There were a number of possibilities.
- It could have been a faulty card.
- The card type (Class 10 Sandisk Ultra) could have been incorrect. At Nokia discussion forums, some said only Class 4 cards and below should be used. Class 10 was apparently a waste and made things worse.
- Or perhaps the card (write speed) was not fast enough when recording with Nokia Camera?
The UHS-1 type cards seemed to have faster write speeds. The Sandisk Extreme was pretty much double the price of the other cards. Ideally I would have tried other UHS-1 cards (Transcend/Sammy) but I wanted to give Sandisk another go :/. Glutton for punishment perhaps?

So far, so good. I’ve not really used the card enough so it could still have issues later down the line when it gets filled up. BTW, I also read that formatting the card might help. It did a little with the ultra card but it didn’t completely remove all stuttering.
Right now, saving to the card seems just as fast as with the phone memory.
