Screen Shot 2014-04-07 at 13.33.42When asked whether Cortana would always be listening like Xbox, Xbox One or Moto X, belfiore says not in the current hardware software combination. And not for the initial wave of phones despite new software tweaks as it would apparently need its own hardware support. e.g. own low power audio processor. Do the snapdragon 800 chipsets not have this?

Engadget says that Microsoft is working on it but is more hopeful suggesting it could be incorporated later down the road.

Saying a phrase like “Xbox” or “Ok Google now” does have its own benefits. I know it’s mere seconds that it saves vs pressing the button but that’s what’s happening these days. Mere seconds add up! Plus, with features like find your phone and making it ring by voice command is super useful.
