According to YLE, due to the tax disputes between Nokia and India, Nokia could retain control of the factory in Chennai if it doesn’t transfer to Microsoft.

Nokia would still however, continue producing phones for Microsoft.

If it so happens that the factory does not transfer to Microsoft, then our intention is to provide services for Microsoft for a period of time, ie to make mobile phones at that plant

- Timo Ihamuotila, Nokia Interim CEO

During that time, Nokia will find the best long term solution for the factory and the workers.

Cheers Alvester for the tip!
