This yellow alien looking thing is what appears to be Cortana for China, with the nickname “Xiao Na”.  She speaks Mandarin in voice/speech and text with specialised suggestions for those living in China such as information on air quality.

UK Cortana gets specialised UK spellings and pronunciations. Interestingly the UK accent comes with a ‘UK personality’.

The US Cortana gets some streamlining and improvements such as more natural commands for reminders. When connected to BT/Car Kit, you can say “Call Cortana” to initiate Cortana. It’s not the same as the always listening (OK Google).

An Alpha programme will be available for  Canada, India, and Australia. They’ll also be able to try the US/UK english versions.

There’s also something called Live Folders. Seems a nicer implementation than the current folders thing. You can create folders simply (like iOS) by dragging a tile over another tile. So all on the homescreen.Screen Shot 2014-07-30 at 15.22.01

There’s SMS selection for mass deleting/forwarding

smsThere’s also something along the lines of Apps Corner (?) and added security.

Those with the Developer Preview can get these next week.

Cheers Alvester for the tip!
