New 4series Lumia; 435 and new Lumia 532 – most affordable Lumias yet – WP Nokia X #Specifications

There’s two new even more affordable Lumias today, Lumia 435 (which looks a bit like the Nokia X – though the white one kinda reminds me more of a mix between the Asha 5 series mixed with 925) and the Lumia 532 which I can’t tell the immediate difference. The specs seem to indicate that the only difference too is that the 435 weighs 0.05g more and has a 2mp main camera vs 5mp in the 532.

I don’t think it makes sense having identical looking phones with different names (justifying Gizmodo’s “dumbest named gadgets“)

The tag line is ‘the power to never compromise’. Well. I’m sure no LED flash is a compromise. But perhaps if they’re on about performance, that’s something else. Considering that the price is 69 and 79EUR before taxes, that’s pretty good. That’s about 50GBP or 80USD. BTW, was it me or in the 532 promo the camera viewfinder seemed to lag (which simply does remind me a lot of the Nokia X and their potato camera from 2004).

There’s usually a strong avoidance to having  4 in a ‘Nokia’ device simply due to superstition with that number. But of course some of you will point out that there have been some Nokia devices with a 4 and more importantly, Lumia is now under Microsoft.

Today, Microsoft Corp. announced the most affordable Lumia devices to date, the Microsoft Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 smartphones.

The Lumia 435 is the first 400 series Lumia and the most affordable one yet. The Lumia 532 builds on from the Lumia 530, with a front-facing camera, more memory and a premium layered design.

Targeted at those looking to upgrade to their first smartphone, both the Lumia 435 and 532 bring Windows Phone 8.1 to new price points, allowing people to do more on the go with preinstalled Microsoft Office apps, 30 GB of free OneDrive cloud storage, Lumia Camera including the Lumia Selfie app and your own virtual assistant, Cortana.

Both devices will be available in both single- and dual-SIM variants, with a Smart Dual SIM setup, and come in the familiar Lumia colours of bright green and bright orange as well as white and black. The Lumia 435 and 532 will begin to roll out to key markets in India, EMEA and  APAC in February.
