Microsoft stops collecting own mapping data, sends 100 Bing engineers to Uber

Uber is on a roll bolstering their mapping efforts. Their business is all about location. This move along with bidding for Nokia’s HERE solutions means less reliance on Google and greater room to grow and stretch their lead, especially when it comes to business outside of Uber’s traditional driver/taxi service. i.e. self driving cars, same day delivery programmes with autonomous maximum efficiency and eventually even sell their own mapping data to others.
