Nokia 6 hands on with Nokia hands on packaging!

| January 8, 2017 | 24 Replies

Check out the packaging for the newly announced Nokia 6. I’m really liking the nod to ‘Nokia connecting people’ hands with those hands on the box.

Just a slight camera bump…enough not to be flush with the back.

i didn’t like the camera design at least they should have made it longer like on N9 and many Lumia’s. Camera design looks small compared to the size of the phone πŸ˜› that is the luckiest person behind the camera πŸ™‚
I was at MWC and Rajeev Suri was on stage and he was about to show Nokia D1C in my dream today and my MOM woke me up and after i woke up i went straight to MyNokiaBlog as always and i was surprised after looking at “Nokia 6 is Official!” WOW. it wasn’t MWC but still its D1C that launched today and i was dreaming about it what a coincidence. I was dancing like crazy after reading that πŸ˜›

I love the excitement and joy and happiness you feel for Nokia phones!
      I love it…

Honestly, I get kinda giddy as well when I see, hear, read, cone across things that have to do with Nokia phones as well.

Many people will come here, and on thousands of other sites, and say it’s a boring design, it’ll get lost on a see of Android phones, etc…
What they fail to understand is that people like me and you and Jay, and ??? exist… We still like and support Nokia.
We have so much enthusiasm for Nokia phones from the passed and future (disclaimer: this previous comment obviously and undeniably excludes all Nokia Windows phone mistakes!)

Now that Nokia is producing a smartphone that the world cares about, people can start buying it and appreciating how great Nokia really is. They throw in a bunch of things that other companies don’t… Software wise. They actually think…

Ultimately, beauty is in the eye of the beholder…
I think the phone will be pretty big.
      Perhaps 155 x 76 x 8 (give or take 1.5 – 2 mm) and weigh about 167 g (give or take 5grams)

I just hope it has nothing less than a 3300 mAh battery! After seeing that Asus phone, Nokia should throw in 3300, 3800, 4200, 4500 mAh batteries in all their upcoming phones. Nothing less than 3300 mAh, along with Nokia custom optimizations to prolong battery life…

Eric, I understand but… as I stated earlier this looks like a rebadged Lenovo Moto g4 plus. For me personally that’s not bad thing; I like the G4’s design ! But as M RIF observed, Nokia was known for its unique designs …

          You’re right…
I guess I’m still hopeful. I’m not looking at this objectively.
I got very excited and got ahead of myself.

But… If you zoom into the pictures, one could assume that the phones has extended corners (to help with accidental falls).
Maybe it’s the light reflecting, or perhaps something else, but I would also be interested in a Nokia X7 like design. Something bold and daring!

Something like the BlackBerry mercury even. Like a modem day E series…

          • LoveNokia

Yes Nokia X7 had an awesome design. Actually X series was designed very well. I will accept a phone with plastic build which has a unique design over an aluminium brick that looks same as another phone.

disclaimer: if there is one who hate WP with passion it’s me… πŸ˜‰

But Nokia(!) Lumia phones were OK from HW point of view. Any of them would sell with Android quite well.

Of course, HMD has no such design(?), manufacturing(?), in-sourcing power like Nokia had back then, so it is quite naive to expect anything revolutionary at first.

First they have to have their foot on the ground, gain mass, money and market share and then – and THEN – they can leave the safe path and play with design, materials, features…

But they have to grab the money first…

  • flotron

Why no official announce, nothing? Some spokesperson that represents the brand at least?

    • B.Srikanth

Ya. Not a worldwide flagship launch. It looks like N1 launch.
I see only networking/5G/OZO related videos on youtube’s Nokia account.

  • SLR

Glad to see MNB coming back to life.

  • Bubblegums

It’s just another Android! Nothing more, nothing less.

  • M Rif

Looks good but doesn’t look like Nokia phones. I still remember the old days back when Nokia always looks unique with their design and they always bring innovation. But today nokia is just name, nothing different than other android phones.

  • Vikas

Not as expected waiting for more cool designs with other color options.

Great that this blog is still running. Reading here after 3.5 years. πŸ™‚

  • rustyknight17

Guys, is it just me or does this look like a rebadged Lenovo Moto g4 plus? If so I’LL disappointed in Nokia.,

    • EricLovesSymbian

iPhone 5s border with the size of an iPhone 7, some garbage pathetic junk Lumia back plate, and a Samsung Chinese wannabe front end.

But I think the music output will be really good for some reason.

        EricLovesSymbian says:

        I got ahead of myself…

I meant to write iPhone 7 plus

    • SLR

The design is different, different materials, different specs, different button and component placement. The only similarity is the screen size and ram.

    • B.Srikanth

Design is totally different. It is cool design.

  • Peter Francis Rudin

Wish they would emphasize any nokia tech which they have licenced in their marketing to convince why people will buy this. Many chinese low end brands now have metal designs with better specs at this price point.

  • rustyknight17

Sorry Srikanth and SLR but I compared the two and the Nokia 6 looks like the G4 . Very much like . And I said nothing about specs but since youse mentioned it seems like the CPU and GPU are different but otherwise they’re remarkably similar. The camera island for instance is identical to the G4..,

    • LoveNokia

its just the camera design which is identical everything else is completely different.

      • rustyknight17

Au contraire, take the G4 plus reference design, make the body of aluminum, put in a SIM card tray and switch the chipset and speakers and you have the Nokia 6! Go ahead and compare them. Except as noted above, the specs are the same as well as the body.

      • rustyknight17

It makes sense really. The Moto g line is a proven design and HMD doesn’t have a lot of money for R&D . If memory serves Foxconn manufactures both .

    • God of chaos

The camera housing looks very much like the one on the lumia 620, just with the flash and lens switched around.
