Hey Viki: Nokia applies for trademark on a voice assistant named ‘Viki’

According to GSM Arena, Nokia has trademarked ‘Viki’ which would be their own upcoming voice assistant.

I’m all or Nokia trying new stuff but the last thing I want to see is yet another pathetic s-voice. My concern would be, what experience and expertise do they have to compete with the likes of Siri, Cortana, Google Voice and Alexa?

There’s a new wave of interest in voice assistants thanks to a surprising growth in Amazon’s Alexa, Echo and Dot. The latter being most exciting because it appears to have been creating a platform by which people can integrate more actions to the assistant than what was originally programmed.

There’s definitely room for Nokia to do something that the other voice assistants haven’t yet, as shown by the smaller publishers and their voice related apps. Let’s hope it’s not just another gimmick that you’ll fish in settings just to turn off.
