Video: Nokia 8 Promo #Concept

| February 8, 2017 | 8 Replies

This video is based on the renders of that Qualcomm reference device for the SD835. It would make an interesting flagship for Nokia.

Aww it’s even got the Nokia Cam UI…

In many ways it looks like what I imagine a Surface Phone would resemble. I really hope something different is done with their MWC flagship offering will be. I am getting really tired of this same look across every OEM. Either the band around the phone is completely squared off like in this concept or rounded like in every other phone. Nokia really hit a home run when they introduced their Fabula design language on the N9 and since then everything else has been boring and uninspired since.

    • Agreed.
N9 Fabula Design really is something different and has a “wow” factor inside.

      • Systematic Systematic

        Agreed.
        +
And small addition: second and more “wow(s)” with N9 was/were with MeeGo Harmattan experience. That was the part of N9 fabula.
Now Nokia IMHO ought to take Sailfish OS, take part in further development if they want or use well known Harmattan – both/all are possible. Linux MeeGo Sailfish OS really make huuuge difference, even bigger then the body design itself. First of all because gives much higher class of comfort for user. Second allow to use any HW from watches through smartphones to smart buildings and cars.

  • This camera UI should be used in all Nokia Android phones.

The placement of that front camera is an eye-sore though. Hoping this is not the final design of the upcoming Nokia flagship.

    • its just a concept design. 🙂

I know, but I fear this might be true. Nokia have done this blunder in the past. For example we could look at Lumia 920, a great device but look at the top side. The speaker grill, front camera and the Nokia logo were all over the place, making an otherwise beautiful design an eye sore. You could also add that huge bottom bezel to the list.

That’s why fingers crossed, I’m hoping this shouldn’t be the case this time.

        Cheers.
