| February 22, 2017 | 26 Replies

Countdown is getting closer to the big reveal. The Nokia Mobile facebook page plans to have a livestream of the event as we see Nokia’s next Android smartphones.

Withings tweeted yesterday that they’ll be joining Nokia too on Feb 26. What new consumer product could they come up with?

  • Cant waiiiitttt!
To see Nokia back in the game, it’s enough for me. But back with surprise would be much better!

    • Joe_HTH

      Well, it’s not actually Nokia.

      • You won’t understand it, even if we explain you the truth πŸ™‚

          Lol

          • Joe_HTH

I’ve seen enough of your ignorance and BS on here to not care what you have to say.

            • EricLovesSymbian

              EricLovesSymbian says:

              Okay…?
              How come you’re so angry?
Also, explain yourself! What ignorance have I portrayed?

        • Joe_HTH

Truth hurts that much? It’s not Nokia. They’re simply licensing their name. You can spin it anyway you want, but I’ve already stated the truth.

          • SIMO

Lol then Apple isn’t Apple, Sony isn’t Sony, etc.

          • zlutor

there are a lots of ex-nokia names behid. that is the difference with other brand licencing cases (Alcatel, etc)

not to mention, some of ex-nokia factories are part of the mix, too…

      • Who knows?:)

If Nokia/HMD expect to succeed , they must do better than the 6 . Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad Device but, judging from the reviews I’ve seen, neither is it especially good in the fierce midrange Android market.
Looks like HMD chose to focus on the Nokia brand , the look and the speakers. Specs and performance, not so much. Even the camera is what you’d expect in a Android at that point. Again, not bad but not outstanding either, unless of course , looks and speakers are king …
I’m currently in the market for a primary device and I mUST say that the Nokia 6 is 6th on my list of contenders, behind, in reverse order, the G4, Elephone P9000,, Honor 5x, Honor 6x and the G4 plus..

    • The should have added extra features to Nokia 6 like double tap to wake, glance screen and a better camera than the Moto G4+
Nokia Lumia 720 had so many good features if you compare it to Nokia 6 (Both are almost similarly priced)

      • rustyknight17

Yes they should have! All of those would have been nice plus a non hybrid dual SIM . Something like Moto Actions would be killer! On the camera ATM I’d settle for a camera as good as the G4+.

  • SIMO

Been a long time since I’ve looked forward to an MWC as much as I am this one. I’m ok with Nokia being patient on a flagship, but I really hope we see a killer.

My wishlist for the Nokia 8, P1 whatever it’s called and whenever it’s released: SD835 (I’m ok with a SD821 if the phone is priced competitively), always-on display (after all, Nokia brought this to the market!), wireless charging (hello Lumia 920!), beautiful design, exchangeable back covers, and as bezelless as possible.

I also really, really hope to see a new nokia tablet in the 8-inch range. A refresh of the N1 would be perfect.

    • HMD/Nokia should surprise us with a great Flagship on 26th πŸ™‚
I like all the features you mentioned but i don’t want extremely thin bezels. πŸ™‚ 2 days to go πŸ™‚

      • SIMO

I really hope you’re right and they surprise us with a flagship. I’ll ditch my black pearl S7 Edge in a heartbeat even though I really like the device. I’ve been watching old N9 unboxing and review videos for the nostalgia.

        • that is the most beautiful device out there πŸ™‚
(I am saying about Nokia N9)

    No Series 40 πŸ™
Y the hell they keep using this junk Series 30+ OS on every phone… arghhhh πŸ™

    • Jukka-Pekka Sokero

I think they have scrapped S40 for good. It wouldnt make sense anymore since Android reached the price point and there is no app ecosystem. S30 is good for the basic phones.

      • S40 was best for feature phones. at least we could customize it much more. themes are not supported on S30+.
y won’t it make sense today. S30+ has app ecosystem? no it doesn’t have it. S40 was much better than S30+ in that department.

        • Jukka-Pekka Sokero

S30 price point a app ecosystem is not needed due to long battery life requirement, simplicity and screen size. Android killed s40 just as it killed s60 and Maemo/Meego/Meltemi.

          • Android phones at that price range offer great battery life? Its not just about apps. What about themes? I don’t agree with you on “Android killed S40 just as it killed S60 and Maemo/ Meego/ Meltemi”.

          • Systematic Systematic

opss, I’d dare to disagree: MeeGo is still alive as it has incarnated into Sailfish OS. And BTW note that Sailfish is capable to replace SXX and provide all features SXX was intended to provide. If you would need proof for scaleability for downsizeing see Sailfish Smartwatch here: https://blog.jolla.com/watch/
My point is Sailfish has not lost all MeeGo advantages including flexibility, but has developed further some other advantages. So think how about to use Sailfish downsized to particular needs, or even having customizing / personalization possibilities limited by HW but not from OS development. And applicable to exactly any HW matherboard or platform. Also Harmattan or Meltemi as UI can be used. Remeber the great plan killed by Elop was to replace them all, or as many as possible, with MeeGo supporting all advantages but eliminating chaos and imposibilities in managment. Now the OS is ready, it is just a question of will – to use it or not to use it.

      M$ has fired all s40 people, I bet… πŸ™

How about this?? i created it using paint lol. i know it looks bad but just a rough idea of how i want a new Nokia camera flagship to look like.
Triple LED flash is at bottom, Dual 41MP camera lens or lower resolution, Xenon flash. colorful design.

All my plans for Sunday are delayed. Gonna watch both streams and hope for the best!
