3000 Nokia Symbian folk shipped off to Accenture to continue delivery of Symbian and Software development.
As we’ve just heard in the big plans post, 3000 Nokia employees will be transfering to Accenture to continue delivery of Software development and support devices. Accenture is
a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company with more than 215,000 employees serving clients in more than 120 countries.
Accenture and Nokia have rich history working together since 1994. This collaboration strongly shows Nokia’s commitment to serve current and future Symbian customers, as it plans to deliver 150 million Symbian devices in the coming years.
“This collaboration demonstrates our ongoing investment to serve our Symbian customers,†said Jo Harlow, executive vice president for Smart Devices, Nokia. “As we move our primary smartphone platform to the Windows Phone platform, the transition of skilled talent to Accenture also shows our commitment to provide our Symbian employees with potential new career opportunities.â€
Symbian and MeeGo R&D decreasing, efforts for Windows Phone increasing (and a new team built up for the “future disruption”)
In case Windows Phone fails, no Symbian life-raft.
Nokia (Elopians) are serious about dropping Symbian. Nokia’s wealth of talent may (most likely) will end up working for their competitors.
It’s all or nothing. And right now it sides heavily on the negative side what the outcome will be.
