Intel backing away from MeeGo? Intel says they’re still committed.
Digitimes is reporting of rumours that Intel may possibly be planning to back off support for MeeGo. This is supposedly due to, “Â due to a lack of enthusiasm for the platform from handset and tablet PC vendors.” Intel may thus be focusing on Android and Windows Phone platforms.
Whilst there was no response to Digitimes from Intel or Nokia at the time, an Intel spokesperson told CNET that they are still committed to MeeGo.
“”We remain committed to MeeGo and open source, and will continue to work with the community to help develop and meet the needs of customers and end users”
CNET
On my twitter-feed, I’m not sure who retweeted this but Carsten Munk, @stskeeps said:
“For good measure, even if Intel did reduce contributions to#MeeGo, MeeGo is not Intel or Intel’s. It’s a open source project under the LF”

Cheers to “abandoned os #2” for the tip.
Whatever did happen to the LG MeeGo devices supposedly on show in May/June?
