Joe Marini no longer with Microsoft – possibly due to tweets about unreleased Nokia Windows Phone?

There were a few stories you guys tipped in I wasn’t able to post yesterday due to the downtime. Bharadwaj managed to post some stuff but I didn’t have access at all.

I don’t know if you remember Joe Marini, the principal program manager at Microsoft who oddly rated Nokia’s Windows Phone just 8/10. Whilst 8/10 was a pretty decent score, that’s not good if that’s your own product, and also one of the hotly anticipated first ever Windows Phone from Nokia. Just consider if it was an Apple employee not praising the iPhone as perfect. How soon would he be escorted from his cubicle?

A few of the Windows blogs have reported that Joe might actually not be working for Microsoft any more, possibly for divulging too much information prior to launch. That’s all pretty much speculation and not yet confirmed (at least the last time I took a look at the story. GeekWire wrote:

“Microsoft’s social media and blogging policy (PDF) calls on its employees to “be smart” and not disclose information in tweets or posts that would otherwise be considered confidential.”

Some others speculate it maybe due to other reasons.

Thanks all for the tip!
