Video: Elop – Middle East Nokia Lumia launch when WP gets Arabic Language support (in the works for this very important region)

In this video interview with Stephen Elop starting at 06:04, Elop explains that Nokia are launching Lumia sequentially, and only when all of the pieces are in place to give the FULL Nokia Lumia experience. That includes getting the correct marketplace, operator billing (all with the local languages) and of course, Language variants for the Lumia itself. He says Nokia hasn’t provided a precise date but they’re certainly working on that .

He notes that Nokia has a long history in the middle east, focusing on local content. He says Nokia store has about 1800 locally relevant pieces. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Nokia are seeing 2 million downloads per week on that content – Nokia has apparently just gone over the 100M download mark for that region and there’s a lot of vibrancy around that. Next, Nokia is going to help developers do things for the Lumia environment – for the windows phone ecosystem (I prefer Elop just say Lumia environment).

Lol I don’t understand Arabic but this show looks really entertaining. Both having a joke at the end of the interview. Something funny about Media Dude?
