Video: Nokia N9 and Indoor positioning with ‘White Spaces’ from Nokia Research Centre

Here’s a video from Nokia demonstrating a 3 year project in the Imperial War Museum, Cambridge. This project uses something called TV ‘white spaces’ for indoor positioning.

This particular technology is not yet ready to go mobile, as you need a small suitcase for the radio. However, there are many other possible implementations for indoor positioning, some of which Nokia has already demonstrated done purely from phones. This one reuses spectrum (no paying auction fees to use), improved internet access (not sure why) and allows for new services.
