Video: Student Pizza time with Nokia 808 PureView (making Pizza from scratch)

On Friday, I received a trial Nokia 808 PureView. Whilst I was making lunch, I thought I’d use the 808 to record what I was doing. Making pizza from scratch. Well, from the flour base and the ingredients vs getting the prepared one from the store. This was just a quick test – perhaps I should have talked through it but my back was hurting way too much for that.

The 808 was zoomed in the whole time hence why the vibration is much more pronounced.  I found that the continuous AF did not perform as well as I’d hoped here. Perhaps I was too close at times? I reverted to using tap focus which automatically disables CAF until you press that button again.

I used a faux stabiliser which wasn’t correctly set up and so may have caused more problems than I would have had without it. It’s certainly better when you’re walking around vs slow panning as you’ll see hopefully either this week or next week as I show some useful accessories for the 808. I’ve got a new tripod today which would have been perfect for the short panning clips.

Although not in the video, I was amazed by the sound recording from the 808. I was playing back some clips in the video editor and kept thinking someone’s left something cooking in the oven as the alarm kept going off. It was the 808 video. I’m going to be recording some more of my own tests for PureView this week.
