There’s been a lot of discussion over what we all just saw yesterday in Nokia’s Channel 4 new Lumia teaser.

More than your eyes can see. Is it because there are more phones in the video than our eyes can see (in addition to perhaps actually having some special optics?)

The hump below, that shiny metal hump looks very different to the round volcano like hump

on this device. You woudn’t really see a distinction in side view given that there’s no shiny metal bit.

It seems a bit too early for EOS (given that we’ve all resigned to wait for it at Nokia World after it not appearing at MWC). But look how long that metal strip seems to be.

It reminds me of this.

What is it?It’s the 808 hump.

What about this?

That’s the hump from the N8.

There’s clearly some hump thing going on there that is not from the catwalk.

As Andrew_b said:

I think the advert is showing two devices. An optical zoom polycarbonate backed cameraphone with the round hump and LED flash, then the slim 41mpix aluminium device having pureview 1 and xenon flash. The 41mpix phone is shown only once from the side view with a very slim aluminium hump, possibly just 1.5-2mm deep.

Arorak was thinking the same but later decided it was the same phone

Looks like they will be announcing 2 new lumias. I see 2 different Lumias, one at the very beginning with big speaker bar (black color) and other one with a big Lens with a hump, IMO. Anyone thinks the same?

My bad that’s a front of the device.

Andrew also feels the opticalZ suspicion in the other device.

See my comment below, I call an optical zoom lens. The round hump is much slimmer in the teaser ad, with a crater (lens retracted). The leaked images of the ugly big ‘huwawei’ hump were likely an attempt to hide the moving optics from spying eyes when the lens was extended

Speaking of craters, is that smoke coming out of it?

I’m sure I’ve heard flutters and mentions of OpticalZ returning to a Nokia. Not sure if this is it.

What if the lens looks bigger due to Nokia pushing for a larger aperture (hence seeing more than our eyes can see. My f/1.4 lens can pretty much see in the dark like my 920 can – though with different approaches)

Look how the ‘led’ sort of moves up out from the device on the side like a zoom lens. Haha, I’m just thinking too much about that.

Probably not more megapixels than maybe 10-14. But this may have OIS and it may have a very large aperture – f/1.4 anyone? With larger apertures (=smaller f-numbers) you get in more light (=better picture quality) and decreased depth of field (=easier to isolate the subject from the background).

Checking out more comments I think it was crisscross that mentioned thinking there might have been some OpticalZ going on there.

Clearly loks like an optimal zoom, or some kind of telescopic lens at least. Next level of pureview, exciting!!!

Perhaps the music might be worth comparing too.

dss said the new soundtrack reminded him of Nokia’s first teaser for PureView

Screen Shot 2013-05-13 at 09.02.04If multiple devices are coming then they’d say ‘are coming’. But it says ‘is’ unless one of them doesn’t fall into the ‘Lumia’ line but something completely different. I don’t know. I’m just rambling on now due to pre-exam jitters.
