LeakyLeak: Background Images for WP8.1, tile skinner. Set size and number of tiles for Start Screen.

This is an interesting implementation of the background wallpaper. Unlike what is seen in W8, WP8 has minimal background wallpaper to expose thus if you did have some wallpaper there you wouldn’t see it (unless the tiles were all slightly translucent).

Over at TheVerge, Tom Warren confirms the appearance of the ‘background’ wallpaper wherein like the earlier tile apps (e.g. Cool Tiles or Skinery), it uses the tiles themselves to display these images. I’m not sure how easily this implements itself, and if it would be dynamic to movement of tiles from one area to another. Alvester tipped something similar but I thought it was just someone using Skinery. Seems this might be the way to go for now regarding those background wallpapers. I like my individual tiles how they are and would probably still prefer having the black background being customizable.

Tom also shared this screenshot on twitter showing how to set the ‘start background’. It says change the size and number of tiles. Enabling the triple column?
