New firmware update Nokia N97 to V22.0.110 (updated with changelog)

| July 1, 2010 | 26 Replies

On my twitterfeed, @Sheridan01 mentionoed he was updating his N97. It wasn’t the wrongly publicised V30 that Nokia mistakingly said was available, but a new firmware update is available nonetheless,  from v21.0.045 to v22.0.110. I did mine OTA, just hit *#0000# and update from there. It’ll take 5 minutes depending on your connection. Not checked […]

Tnkgrl has posted her unboxing and thoughts on the Nokia E73 Mode. Differences with E72: MicroUSB charging on E73 vs MicroUSB and 2mm Nokia port – front soft keys are plastic instead of metal like E73; keyboard is curved and not flat; designed to operate on T-mobile’s 3G Camera is really amazing – taken some […]

An experimental app from Nokia Research Centre, Beta Labs allows the automatic splitting of your videos into key frames thus making it really easy to find the thumbnail of a particular scene and quickly jump to it, instead of having to aimlessly drag the seek bar. Whilst this would of course be useful for movies […]

A collection of high res photos of the new Nokia X5 was uploaded by cssinsight on Flickr. It comes in pink, yellow, blue and purple, but above you can see what looks to be a black one, though it may just be the purple looking black due to the lighting/angle. Whilst the pink looks frightening, […]

Based on the demographic of this blog, the last thing you’d expect to see is the parading of the tween hit books/movie series Twilight. But this time, the star of the show is not erm (imdb check), Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, or Taylor Lautner.  It’s the Nokia Nuron! (Not that any of them are actually […]

Following on from part 1, as a new addition to Jay’s team here, here’s a look at what the second half of the last decade looked like for me, in terms of Nokia devices and the evolution of their specifications. My upgrade opportunity in 2007 was well-timed for the arrival of the iconic N95. Until […]

If I had to guess, I suggest that very few readers of this blog would expect to come across a low quality image of an old Psion Series 5mx at the top of an article. Of course, we should never forget that Symbian, at the heart of so many modern Nokia devices, has its roots in […]

Click X now or prepare for a mighty wall of text. This time last year, we were all in anticipation of Nokia’s hottest flagship – the Nokia N97. A year later, N97 is a dirty word, encapsulating Nokia’s failure to understand the high end. Unfortunately, many N97 users got burned. Myself included. Although there was […]

Nokia’s Firmware update checker says that the N97 has a new firmware available, v30.0.016. But Nokia Software Updater and Over The Air update can’t find anything yet. But what we do know is that it’s coming soon. I’ve somewhat lost hope in the firmware updates for the N97. Fingers crossed it lessens my frustrations with […]

ChipperMist has got his hands on a 5235 and has provided a video overview along with an unboxing and Ovi Store demo. The Nokia 5235 is a strupped down 5800, but with 2MP camera (instead of 3.2mp carl zeiss) and no WiFi. Note, that the 5235 is different from the 5230 because (supposedly) 5235 comes […]

The N97 homescreen was quite nice when it was released. But lack of widgets, space and taste of Maemo 5 made it feel extremely old. Here’s a couple of videos showing a Maemo 5 style multiple homescreen on the N97. It uses GDesk like the videos in this 5800 homescreen hack post. Icon apps still […]
