Video: Nokia N900 Swipe to Unlock

Aah, the slide to unlock. A side swiping gesture made iconic by the Apple iPhone. No button combinations, holding keys or unlock switches – just a somewhat futuristic thumb-flick to the right. A mate of mine stupidly bought an iPhone (first gen) just for the slide to unlock.

N97, 5800, 5530 and other S60 5th edition users could achieve the same affect but only via 3rd party apps, like MyPhone (which attempts to simulate an iPhone UI).

Here in the N900, the Swipe to unlock gesture is supported by default. Swish.

Currently, if the N900 is locked, you have to press the power button first to see this “Swipe to Unlock” option.  You can also lock/unlock using the dedicated lock switch.
