Ovi Store Accessible on N900 (via web)

Nokia Conversations reports that today’s firmware update is meant to be in preparation for the opening of the Ovi Store.

Whilst the app version of the Ovi Store still directs to coming soon,(Update: Ovi Store icon now working. Just a bookmark it seems) going to store.ovi.mobi on your N900 will lead you to the Ovi Store web version. Some people have gotten access to it by other means before but now I’m guessing, due to today’s firmware update, the N900 is now listed as compatible.

Though it’s the web version, I’m finding it already better than what we’ve got for S60 5th and N97. It’s optimized for the width of the N900’s screen and for finger touch (no tiny icons).

So far, there’s some new apps that weren’t already available via previous App Manager catalogues (as well as some familiar looking apps we’ve already seen on S60V5). There are some new games, wallpapers, audio/video and even themes!

You’ll need a Nokia account to download content. Clicking on an app opens up the app manager for installation.
