Video: Nokia N9 Hands on (from Marko) +N9 Design

| June 21, 2011 | 28 Replies

In case you missed the livestream (though you can watch it again) folks are starting to upload the N9 demo portion (from Nokia’s Marko Ahtisaari). It’s really worth taking another look at how great the UI is on the N9. That is as modern if not more so than competitors. Loving the intelligent swipe gestures. I’m so torn with seeing this and the direction for Windows Phone. Ah well, folks we do have two pockets, no :p (jk)

Actual hands on demo by attendees should be uploaded any time soon.

WTF i had this swiping idea in mind since last year XD

I hate to break the mood but I better do it before others do. The N9 runs a 1Ghz Cortex A8 3630 with PVR SGX530 according to this:

    Oh well….the UI is fluid!

Its such a shame that Nokia wasn’t able to have this released last year

It would have killed the competition but now i imagine it will have to compete; instead of “off with their heads” its become a boxing match

So what was the “Oh Sh!t!” moment the Bloomberg article was talking about that everyone kept repeating???

    • Andre says:

Standard MeeGo , not MeeGo Harmattan maybe?

      • Viipottaja says:

Exactly. Nokia being able to churn out Harmattan phones on its own means precious little if the Meego proper is lacking behind and not building up any momentum.

        • akse says:

It was long clear that Nokia would have its own UI and UX over Meego handset UX.. The one that you can download from meego site is just a reference UI of meego.

  7. MIP says:

Where the funk the xenon flash??? This is just big ipod nano. I’m not satisfied

  9. Rex says:

I can foresee the sype UI being a problem in many situations that requires panning gesture. Maps, web surfing, photo browsing, sype keyboard, etc will make you accidently switch to another screen.

  10. omar orabi says:

it looks like an iphone4 covered with plastic case , nice but should be better after all this time

  11. Fyrkkapoika says:

It does seem very slick. For once Nokia has managed to bring some life to the UI. Now the question is, how do they continue to support MeeGo?

  12. salaka says:

“But it doesn’t stop there…” *video ends*

Is there rest of the announcement available somewhere?

  13. Cod3rror says:

I like the design, would’ve been nicer if the screen was flat though.

  14. ssdh says:

    WHITE N9… spotted on 1:30 – 1:32 of the 2nd video….

one on the screen, and one on the table behind, together with a magenta N9..
