Price cuts for Nokia N8, E6, C7 (and other Nokia smartphones)

Reuters reports that Nokia has cut the prices of its smartphone range. The biggest cuts of 15% were made to the Nokia N8, C7 and E6. Much expected from the first two given they were handsets from three quarters ago. The lowering of price on the E6-00 will certainly make it more attractive, as I felt the initial cost was slightly overpriced.

A Nokia spokesperson said, “”It’s business as usual”

Nokia had already indicated from its Q2 profit warning that price cuts would be expected. The lack of a flagship handset on sale in Q2/Q3 as well as a tired looking portfolio (and the apparent mark of death on Feb11 to operators on Symbian handsets) is looking to result in the reporting of losses for Q2 and Q3.

Do you guys reckon Nokia can keep itself at least 20% market share by 2012? Q1 share is at 25.5, Q2 is expected to be worse, as with Q3. Only until N9, Sea-Ray and family are launched would we start possibly seeing a turn around.

  •  Amazon probably has not updated prices yet as the N8’s price has gone up (£311) from the last time I checked (was £299)
Cheers Adnan for the tip!
