Videos: Symbian Belle demoes on Nokia 600 and Nokia N8

Here are a couple of overviews of Symbian Belle, one is the official Symbian Belle demoed on updated hardware in the Nokia 600 (should be similar to 700 and 701). The next is another long overview, about 13 minutes on the Nokia N8.

The Nokia 600 Belle overview comes from CJ of ZOMGitsCJ

  • Something new that CJ points out is the red cancel button also acts as a power/profile key. Hmm..
  • I still find it odd that the 600 is the loudest phone but it’s the 700 that has that kinda ugly looking front facing speaker grille.
  • Just look what well placed transition animations can do. A simple fade in/out removes any perceived delays and also directs the user’s attention to what’s happening on screen.
  • I do prefer the lack of folders by default, (you can add them later). This means that all apps are immediately visible, not hidden away in random folders that are quite inconsistently placed.

The Nokia N8 overview is partnered with a very detailed overview of Belle by Nitish.

This is the unofficial leaked Belle  that quite of you have put on your N8 already. Whilst this leak is not officially supported by Nokia, a few Nokia staff have openly mentioned having Belle on the N8, one example being Nokia’s Comms Director, Mark Squires. Let’s hope they stick to their promises this time and deliver Belle in Q4 (for current S^3 devices). Though Anna was delayed heavily (prior to being called PR2.0) at least they met the August deadline (for the majority of folks).

Thanks to Anand Ikona and jill for the tips!

BTW, from our last post, we saw that Nokia mentions Symbian^3 Belle update would be available for the following handsets. As 352×416  pointed out, where’s the Nokia 500?
