MyNokiaBlog.com 4 years old today

This came on as a bit of a surprise – but apparently MyNokiaBlog.com turns 4 years old today. Ha.

In case you don’t know the back story, this was initially started to put together a lot of my Nokia posts from a MobileBurn’s forums where I once was admin (the forum is closed now). I was always a Nokia fan, but because of the events and activities from WOMWorld, I had rather, too much Nokia things to keep writing about on an all mobile forum. So this was started to collect my Nokia random and informal thoughts about Nokia.

I’m still not really sure why WOMWorld thought it was a good idea to bring me to events around the world even after I stopped going on forums and wrote rarely on this unknown blog. But I am vastly thankful for their support. I stopped writing for about a year but got interested again after seeing the N97. Gradually it went from posting every couple of weeks, to every week, eventually trying every day to now multiple times a day (and on events, several per hour). The growth we’ve had is relatively very awesome, and that’s thanks to both the writers that have come on board to help out to bring regular, new and interesting content and also to you folks the readers who interact with our posts and are always there now to provide us with new Nokia news. As you know, we recently hit 1.6m views in August, and apparently in Technorati’s top 100 gadget and tech blogs. We couldn’t have ever done that without the writers taking their time to help the site out, the readers reading our post, making brilliant discussions, giving us tips on the next Nokia news, and also those folks who share these news with others on their own sites, groups, twitter, and facebook.

Whilst we (kinda) celebrate on four years as a blog and now possibly even a micro-community, it’s a little unfortunate that a few of the Nokia blogs I had been reading keep disappearing, year on year for one reason or another. But on the bright side, I am pleased to encounter new ones and even sometimes see those old blogs come back. As a Nokia fan, that is most awesome to see more people bearing that Nokia torch, and especially those that went away come back. This is what I want to see happen to Nokia in real life. I think much of my interest now in Nokia has gone from praising the top dog to now rooting for the underdog – because deep down, I know they still have it in them to get back to the top (and possibly vindicate my weird fascination for them for all these years).

Thank you folks for finding us and sticking with us as one of the places to give you Nokia related news. I hope this place can continue doing that as long as there’s a Nokia to love, moan, boast, and care about :).

Cheers!

Jay
