Video: Nokia C7 Vs Nokia 701, Browser, video, mapping, multitasking
Hey, I noticed this follow up video on Nokia C7 vs Nokia 701 comparison and here wimmerzdenek shows the browser (Anna vs Belle), multitasking (256mb vs 512mb RAM) and video (with 701 supposedly with greater GPU)
- Faster page loading on 701
- Easier web navigation on 701
- Still chequerboarding when pinch and zooming but both smooth
- Real subtle but neat animation in 701 (Belle) when opening a video. You see something rotate, directing the users eyes that they should now be watching in landscape (not just letting the sudden landscape video just appear)
- Video control playback – I prefer the Belle style on 701

belle on my n8 makes my phone so much faster
As soon as I will get official Anna on my N8, I will for the first time try flashing it with Belle. Can’t wait for it any longer.
Why don’t you just flash with anna, test it, and inmediately flash to belle, I’m soooooooooo happy with belle, you must try it, is veeeeeeeeery easy, and will took you five minutes!
Did anyone notice that the amount of used RAM on the 701 is above 200mb? What would that mean for older devices upgraded to Belle?
maybe coz 701 has more ram it might store more in ram than in virtual memory compared to c7
That’s probably right.
It means nothing. Symbian is so well optimized that it handles everything just fine. Memory management on Symbian Belle is terrific! The best I have ever seen on a mobile device. I can pretty much open everything I have installed on my phone (including some games) and it will just handle the memory well.
Remember some people having “Memory full” issues with opening more than 10 tabs or so on Opera Mobile with S^3 and Anna? Forget about it. I still have 98MB RAM free after opening 30 heavy pages on Opera Mobile with Belle. And that’s with plenty of other apps also running on the background.
I have some kind of clue of what they have done to achieve this, though I’m not certain, but it is AMAZING!
Not much really, I’ve been using Belle for a month and I haven’t had any memory issues so far.
